Customer Reviewsfrom West Valley, NY February 14, 2011 Music Background: Guitar player since 1967 and original song writer One Great GuitarI have been playing guitar since 1967. I remember seeing George Harrison playing his Gretsch with the Beatles. Hoping someday I could be able to buy one. Then in 69 I was with a band and our lead guitarist had this model Gretsch. Everytime I had a chance I would play his guitar hoping someday. Since that time I have played Gibson Les Paul Custom and high end Fenders and other electric's. FInally this year I was able to purchase this guitar. And was amazed and what I have been missing all these years. The quality and tone of this guitar and ease of playing is just like my old lead guitarist. I had the guitar set up and did not like the strings that were put on. I have just put on a set of Gibson 11 gauge vintage strings and now my guitar sings. I highly recommend if you are looking for a guitar with outstanding quality this is the model for you. You will not be sorry.from Shreveport, LA July 29, 2008 Music Background: Wannabe hobbyist percusseur Amazing SoundOk, I'm a drummer--what do i know about guitars? Nothing, I admit! But here's the thing about the Country Gentleman: even I was blown away by it's sound! STICK WITH ME HERE... I am acquainted with a terrific Beatles tribute band called The Cavern Beat, operating in the Chicago area. They play with instruments that are either of the same period, or the same brands and models the Fab Four used: Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and hofner guitars through Vox amps. "George" had been playing a Duo-Jet and a Ric 12-string as had his namesake--always expertly. He finally got his hands on a new Country Gent, and did a set with it, and THAT'S what blew me away! The Duo-Jet was just an electric guitar; pretty, capable, but for all I could hear, it could've been a Squier Strat. But the Gent was a whole different matter; warm, lush and musical as all get out. I listened to that thing for an entire three-hour set and wanted more. Plug the gent into a Vox (or a Fender) tube amp, and it's sonic sex all the way... Yeah, I'm just a drummer, but the Country Gentleman really stopped me in my tracks. Think about one of these, if you can do a guitar justice! (I can't...)
