Customer Reviewsfrom Brooklyn, NY USA July 19, 2011Music Background: Recording Engineer, Amateur Musician A Finely Crafted InstrumentThis guitar is loosely based on the one-off, customized axe that Gretsch produced for Michael Nesmith in 1967. The main differences between the two are the walnut finish (Mike's guitar was a blonde.) and the fact that this guitar has "simulated F-holes" vs. actual F-hole cutouts. However, don't take that as a minus - the solid exterior actually seems to enhance the sustain, while the heavily routed interior adds some wonderfully nuanced tones to give this instrument a true hollow-body sound. The HS Filter'Tron pickups provide the characteristic Gretsch twang. And the various controls offer wide flexibility. This is one of the easiest-to-play 12 strings I've ever had the good fortune to own. The 6122-12 is made in Japan, and is crafted like a fine piece of furniture, with all the attention to detail that you'd expect from a Gretsch. If you're in the market for a 12-string electric, this is the one to get.
