Great guitar for rockabilly, country, or rock. The Tennessee Rose is a well made instrument. The finish is excellent and all hardware is top notch. The stock filtertrons have that great Gretsch sou... read more [+]nd. The neck pickup is very full and jazzy but not at all muddy. The bridge is very bright and twangy almost approaching Telecaster territory and the middle position is a great sound on it's own. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a great hollowbody. close [-]

This was my first Sweetwater purchase. Since the guitar was back ordered I just clicked on the send me an email notification when the guitar arrives. Over the past I have tried many different Gretsch... read more [+] guitars to see what I might like best ( they do make a lot of them). I kept coming back to the TN Rose G6119, even after trying a few 6120. Saleman Dennis Konicki called me and said he had two of them in. They had pictures ready for me to view and I placed my order with him on the phone. The guitar arrived in 3 days, on a Saturday to boot.December 26, 2012 Music Background: Semi Pro It is a sweet looking axe and it took me a few days of playing to bond with it. The Bigsby is wonderful and stays in tune. You caress a Bigsby, so it's not a Floyd Rose. The set up was very nice. I might have the string slots on the nut lowered a bit, to my taste, but all in all it's fine. The neck feels a bit like my 62 Tele RI. The High Sensitive Filter’Trons are very nice, and fit somewhere in between a P90 and a tele. After playing many The TV Jones® Classics have a slight more output, but if you run the Filter’Trons tone and volume controls full tilt you pretty much nail that classic Brian Setzer vibe. This guitar has a tone knob and not the 3 way tone switch that is seen on many 6120. I personally like silver/nickle hardware better than gold plated hardware. My criteria on the Gretsch was nickle/chrome hardware, no zero fret and picks up that were versatile , but nailed that classic Gretsch tone. This one fit the bill. I was thinking, before the purchase, this might be my one and only Gretsch guitar, so I'd better pick a good one I'm gonna be happy with for a long time to come. Might do a Pro Jet, or a Duo Jet down the road. Don't tell Dennis or my wife. I'd give the guitar a 5 star rating, but after 35 years of playing. I'm not blown away by any one single piece of gear. However I'll give Sweetwater a 5 star rating and the TN Rose G6119 a solid 4.5 plus. close [-] Also popular
