Low wattage It's no big secret that small guitar amps are often used in the studio for huge tones. Pushing just 5 watts, the G5222 is perfect for any situation where a tone of volume isn't needed, but the tone needs to be perfect. Strum gently and you get warm, round chords. Push harder and the G5222 gets mean, with tones that are ripe for searing riffs. All this tube sweetness is made possible by a 12AX7 in the preamp and a 6V6 in the power amp. Vintage vibe Wrapped in a blonde skin with a leather strap handle, the G5222 certainly looks like a tube-powered jewel from the '50s. The retro-script emblems on the amp further add to the vibe. And best of all, it's a Gretsch, and nothing says classic like Gretsch! Gretsch G5222 Electromatic Features:
Gretsch's G5222 Electromatic offers sweet tones in a vintage-tinged package!

This is a great little practice amp if you're looking for something with tubes, and you're on a budget. Plenty of volume for an apartment that's for sure. The amp has a fairly full sound especially co... read more [+]nsidering it's a 6 inch speaker! This amp's sound has a lot, and I mean a lot more depth to it than the Fender Champ 600. I A/B'd them when I bought this amp, and the Gretsch blew the Fender away. It breaks up fairly easy with humbuckers, but has quite a bit of headroom with my Tele. Obviously there's no EQ, but that could be rectified with a pedal if need be. I would imagine you could record with this amp two under the right conditions. Overall it's a great practice amp that gets you a tube sound at a reasonable price. It's also a very striking amp from a looks perspective, the pics online don't really do it justice. Very retro, very hip.... close [-]
