A Legendary Guitar

by Sean from Texas

Like the others before me I love this guitar. First, this is the first time for me to buy for Sweetwater and I could be more pleased. My guitar arrived when promised, and packed really well and secure... read more [+]. When taking the guitar out of its packing material, I was in awe. It is like seeing an angel appear from the clouds, it revealed itself in its orange body and beige binding, shinny and new like a newborn child. Man, what a looker. Then after a complete look over the fit and finish I found absolutely no flaws, and yes, it was the same guitar as pictured on the sweetwater website! I made notes and compared. This guitar is flawless. Ok now I give it a quick tune and acoustically play a few chords and then a couple of runs, and man, it feels like butter. The neck is super thin and fast! easy to handle some stretchey chords, for sure. I love this neck and I have meat hooks for hands.
Next, I plug in to my Fender Mustang III amp and dial in a smooth creamy clean tone. ******, sweet. it was such a surpise to hear those buttery tones from the stock pickups. Next I set a little more gain and get a great VOX AC 30 sound, Wow, even better chugging chords, and put a little more distortion and compression and getting some knarley raunchy Neil Young crunch.

An absolute pleasure to play, and I will continue to find great tones with this guitar, I am in love. I have played a lot more expensive Gibs and Fender, Schecters, Ibanez etc, but this guitar makes noises that these will never get. Get one. You'll love it. close [-]

Best Guitar Bargain Ever

The photos never do this guitar justice. Transparent nitrocellulose finish with gorgeous maple grain. And then you plug it in. Every style of music sounds sweeter coming from this axe. Tear-droppin... read more [+]g blues and country, even a jaw-dropping crunch machine. I've owned so many Fenders, Gibsons, Epis, etc., but I've never loved one the way I love this guitar. The action is a dream, like playing music in heaven. I once believed I could never justify $3K for a Gretsch and then I found this and bought one immediately. If you have ever wanted to add that rich Gretsch sound to your arsenal but can't afford to think about one, or if you think that the 51 series guitars are just knockoffs, forget that stuff. The craftsmanship, tone, even the setup out of the box are everything you should expect from a Gretsch. And the real Bigsby will make grown men cry. BUY THIS GUITAR! close [-]

I love this guitar!

Got this Guitar for Christmas after lusting after it since it came out. Figured I get one, swap out the p/u's for a pair of TV Jones, and I'd have a reasonable facsimele of a Gretsch. I was wrong-it s... read more [+]ounds fine the way it is! I'm not saying it wouldn't benefit from the change out, but as of now I'm in no hurry. It sings when you back off the throttle, and it really growls when its cranked! The only "issue" I have, and its very small, is minor tuning issues, which I attribute to the Bigsby, and the fact that my usual weapon of choice is a Telecaster, so I'm used to its tuning stability. The finish is gorgeous (orange stain) and it plays like a dream. All in all,and this is just my opinion, the "bang/buck" factor is off the chart! close [-]

"That Gretsch Sound" It Has It For Less $$$

by Bob from Fl

Music Background: 40 yrs Rock & Roll, Blues, Country,
I have two Gretsch The Country Classic & Tenn. Rose 1962HT models and for the money on this Gretsch is great. I had a chance to order the 125th Anniversary Limited Edition they call the Baby White Fl... read more [+]acon and what a nice built guitar for the price and had the Silver plexi pickguard with Gretsch on it and it was signed by Fred Gretsch IV himself. Soon as I got it I took it to my music store and had Flat Wounds put on it cause thats the strings I Like cause they give me that Beatle sound and they stay in tune alot longer and the Tech at the music store stated that gretsch out did themself with this guitar at this price and the set up was perfect that Gretsch did on it I annd nothing needed done to it. So that night I played it for four sets and all I can say is if you don't have $2,000 or $2,500 to spend and want that Great Gretsch Sound, BUY THIS BABY. I am sorry but Gretsch only made limited edition of the Baby White Flacon and it is a guitar that is WOOOOOOOOOOW. Think gretsch needs to get away from the Clear Pick guard. Or replace it with the Gretsch Pick Guard it will make your guitar look like the $2,000 gretsch. BUY IT YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH THIS GRETSCH AND SAVE ALOT OF $$$. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
