Four distinct synthesis types
The Fusion 8HD with an 88-note weighted keyboard is built around Alesis' powerful Coldfire processor surrounded by seven high-performance DSPs. This massively powerful processing core starts by giving you four synthesis types:

1. Sample playback for ultra-realistic instruments like grand pianos, drums, guitars, etc., or create your own custom samples with the built-in sampler.
   
   
2. Virtual analog from the people who brought you the award-winning Ion and Micron virtual analog synths as well as the actual-analog A6 Andromeda.
   
   
3. FM synthesis, emulating one of the favorite synthesizers of the 1980s.

But that's not all! The Fusion can also record eight channels of 24-bit audio directly to its built-in 40GB hard drive. The internal sequencer lets you edit your MIDI and multi-track recordings together with computer-like ease. The DSP effects (reverb, compression, distortion, etc.) can be applied to MIDI tracks, audio tracks, or both. Finally, when you've finished your master mix, you can either transfer your mixdown to a computer with via USB 2.0 or burn your project straight to CD with an optional CD-R recorder.

Expanded RAM plus CompactFlash memory
The Fusion 8HD Sweetwater has expanded internal RAM - 192MB. Additional instruments will be available, as well as your own custom samples, programs, songs, and mixes, which can be stored on inexpensive Compact Flash memory.
