It's stable and doesn't require anything other than just installing the drivers, plugging it in, and selecting it in your DAW. You're up and creating in minutes. I think it's everyone's duty that buys this to mention something very important that is not heavily marketed by the company...obviously. It can only record and playback "simultaneously" at 48kHz, not 96kHz. They advertise recording at 96kHz, which it does, but you have to turn off the playback ports in order to do so. This is not a big deal. I mean...seriously, why would you need any more detail on an entry level device? This is properly designed. Just plug it in and get busy. Recordings with a good microphone will be good enough. Don't listen to anything negative about this device, usually those are people that DO have professional equipment (like me), and are comparing it to a $10,000 chain. So, with that said, this is good enough to make a decent song, master it through some GOOD Studio Monitors, burn it on CD and sell it on the street. Please take that last phrase with a grain of salt...I think if I was trying to make a song on a shoestring budget with no experience but will and talent, knowing what I know now, I would go for the Fast Track Pro and call it a day. If you're thinking of buying it, do it, you won't be sorry. I did rate it 5 but realize that is a rating based on my opinion for YOUR purchase of a "my first audio input device" or "I have to be mobile" device. close [-] Great!!!

I don't plan on upgrading for a while, because i'm fine with the specs and it's great. Everything's clear and I've had no problems with the device. As soon as I plugged it in, Garageband and Logic recognized it instantly (no downloaded drivers or anything). Basically, this is a great device and you wont regret buying this. close [-]

I have tried it with a couple different laptops and it works best with the newer models running XP.
