This pedal is a MUST!

Music Background: Blues, Jazz & Worship

Well, I got this pedal used, but in great condition. Not that big a deal because the thing is built like a tank. This will take your Spider III amp, or any other in the matching series, and make it ... read more [+]a real workhorse. I love my Spider III because it's small, and the 75 watts can really yell if you need it to. Sadly, I find it very limited in that you can not easily flavor the existing patches or your own, without building a new patch. Want to toggle the reverb? No can do! Same with the other FX.

Enter the Shortboard. First of all this is a misnomer as it takes up as much real estate as my RP1000. Regardless, the size is worth it when you consider that it gives you an incredible amount of access to the patches, FX and the Wah-Wah. The LCD display is big and bright and can be seen by the most myoptic guitarist. I find it way easier to run through the patches using the footswitches, and once I find a patch I like, I can add or cut the effects without creating a new patch. Switching to a new patch is just like the amp, your previous patch will be reset if you return. I almost wish I had gotten this pedal earlier, as I may not have bought the RP1000.

Overall, my only beef is that this pedal should have come with the amp. I've always been impressed with the Line 6 FX and still think that they are the best bang for the buck, but you really won't benefit from the hidden potential without this pedal. If you run any of the Line 6 Spider series combos or heads, YOU NEED THIS PEDAL. You won't regret it. close [-]

The Short Board gives me hands-free interactivity with my PODxt in live situations. Easy to see in all stage lighting situations, powered via the included CAT-5e cable (so no batteries!), quick access to the POD's tuner, and the expression pedal can be both volume and wah. I wouldn't use my POD onstage without it!
