I w... read more [+]as able to start using these cool sounds in my music instantly and they sound awesome. Setup was pretty easy and I'm completely new to virtual instruments. Mark helped me figure out which keyboard of mine could be used as a trigger via USB. I used some of the cymbal crashes on a project I was working on and they couldn't sound more natural. Carson McClainI cannot believe it, I will be gigging out with Evolve because everything is beat synced in this plug-in! I can use this with Ableton Live or Mainstage for my live shows and sync it to my entire live show! This is a great tool for live performance and an even better tool for scoring and commercial work. Need to bring life to an orchestral composition or add a thriller element to your intros or logos? Evolve can and will absolutely do that. If you need apocalyptic it can do that, if you need viscous synth leads it can also do that. Evolve is on the top of my list for 2009's best tools for composition. Especially that it was ‘great for live performance.’July 15, 2011 Music Background: Professional keyboardist Now that I’ve used it, I don’t know if it’s possible for me to accurately rate this product. I cannot really call it a musical instrument because it’s more of a pots and pans banging together in odd polyrhythms. Evolve is essentially a soundtrack for a low budget horror film with lots of thuds, clanks, bangs and booms – heavy on the ‘distant canyon’ reverb effects. I suppose there is a market niche for this, just like there is a niche market for the sound effects in Donkey Kong, but I wouldn’t call that a musical instrument either. Evolve offers nothing I would ever use in anything that I would call a ‘musical’ composition. If you’re looking for sound EFFECTS for an indie zombie flick (shot on 8mm film) then you might want to look at Evolve. Otherwise, I would look for something else. Maybe this is the future of music and I’m just too old to appreciate atonal pots and pans banging together (in 13/8 over 5/4 time) as being ‘music’. If I can say anything about Evolve – make sure that you actually play it and hear it before you spend $300. close [-]
