Apogee Ensemble FireWire Audio Interface at a Glance:
Custom engineered to work with new Macs and Logic Pro
Apple and Apogee worked closely to ensure the new Firewire Ensemble not only sets new standards for sound quality and performance, but is also a natural extension of Logic Pro. Ensemble is the first all digitally controlled, professional audio interface, designed specifically for the Macintosh.
36-channel simultaneous audio
Ensemble features 36 channels of simultaneous audio, including eight channels of Apogee's legendary A/D and D/A conversion, four transparent, digitally controlled 75db mic preamps, eight channels of ADAT I/O, 2 channels of S/PDIF coax and optical I/O, and FireWire connectivity to and from the computer. Ensemble also includes such Apogee's features as SoftLimit, UV22HR, and Intelliclock.
Maestro software for advanced control of Rosetta, AD-16X, and DA-16X
Maestro is an innovative application that offers advanced control capabilities over Ensemble in addition to those available in Logic Pro. These include multiple low latency mixers, an input and output routing matrix, and a universal control platform for using Ensemble in combination with other Apogee hardware.

I am truly amazed how this system sounds now. For years I've been trying to get that "professional sound" and beginning to think only the major studios can achieve it on the Neve and SSL boards that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.....WRONG! Get some great converters like this one, there's a reason they cost a lot, they are superior quality! I am amazed that anyone that has posted thinks this thing sounds just okay. Of course you need the rest of your gear to be at the same level as well so be sure to have some quality monitors and maybe another preamp. Most importantly, you will never have better customer care. The first time I called in, a what seemed like 50-year old guy picked up with a warm and chilled voice in two rings. He helped me so quickly, and didn't care about the bull s**t aesthetics. They're online chat is great, their updates are easier than anything I've ever worked with. Their products, have been around for many years, and they've kept their quality and their character.
