Customer Reviewsfrom Vegas May 9, 2013 SmokinAbsolutely worth the $! A joy to play...especially amplified.from Florida Panhandle March 7, 2012 Baritone BeautyI lusted after Ovation's more expensive baritone offering for years but just couldn't justify the cost -- when this more budget-friendly version came along, I went for it. I'm glad I did. It's not as pretty but it sounds great.Yes, you can play this Ovation in D, should you desire, but it has a true baritone scale so it can be tuned down to B or even A, with the appropriate strings. And it sounds good down there, just enough brightness and snap to make those low notes sparkle a bit,. Sounds fine played finger-style...so who needs a bass? from Knoxville, TN June 27, 2012Music Background: I have been mostly playing at home for my own entertainment for 50 years now. The D-Scale provides new song options.I ordered the Ovation D-Scale because I have a limited vocal range, and I thought the D-Scale would expand my selections of songs (rather than transposing keys or tuning a standard guitar down to 'D'). I did not have an opportunity to play the guitar before purchasing it, so when I received it, i found the string guage and tension to be greater than any of my other guitars. This isn't a real problem, and I am trying to grow into the strings. (Ovation recommends not going to strings that are significantly lighter.)Bottom line, the guitar has proven to be exactly what I was looking for and has a great sound; it's a keeper.
