I was hesitant about getting this after hearing some negative feedback about this software.... It's all a bunch of BULL!!....I had this installed & running in a session inside of 30 minutes. EZ drummer sounds fine to me, in fact it just sounds good period & it DOES sound like real drums. I'm running this in pro tools 7, i turn on grid mode, drag in a groove or fill, if the groove or fill don't suit me, I copy & paste one together & BAM!!.....It's just that EZ....i can't wait to get some expansion packs or maybe even upgrade to superior drummer 2.0 when it comes out. I want to thank my sales rep for telling me about this product.........Thank you Toontrack & Thank you SWEETWATER!! you guys rule!!
EZ it is... but don't let this fool you into thinking this doesn't ROCK.

I used BFD for about a year, but never really took to it. I was originally turned off to EZDrummer, mostly because I was afraid to sell myself short. The name EZDrummer makes it sound like it's a toy, drum-machine like, or something similar, but it's nothing of the sort. EZD sounds awesome! I prefer it to the drum software I used to use. I wish I had just gotten this in the first place. The EZX's are affordable and just serve to make a great product even better. I no longer sweat over putting together a good drum track. As a songwriter, and not a drum producer/engineer, I like to get to the song part of things asap. This lets me do that. I can lay down a nice convincing drumtrack, then get to my music. As things unfold I can tweak the drums as needed. The sounds out of the box are incredible. If you would rather spend your time working on guitar parts, piano parts, vocal harmonies, or any of those other fun melodic things, get EZDrummer and set yourself free!!
Way too EZ drummer

This is my first drum software as I have always used dedicated hardware for drum sounds (modules, samplers, expansion cards, etc). I was apprehensive about getting this based on some negative reviews on other sites, but then when I began using it I realized that the negative reviews could only be as a result of inexperienced users who know little about DAW's. I'm using Cubase 4 and quickly was able to create a multi-channel VST instrument which allowed me to add a compressor to the snare and eq to the kick (and fade all toms with one fader).
The sounds are great and I also purchased the Nashville expansion set. My only real gripes with the product are: 1) you cannot use (for example) a cymbal from the Nashville set in your Rock set - you need to start another instance of EZDrummer, and 2) you cannot control which pieces bleed. If I like the bleed of my snare in the overheads and I want to reduce the bleed of the hi hats, I would have to use external routing and hope I can simulate the room with my reverbs.
The two grips notwithstanding, this is an excellent product which is giving my music a much more professional sound. Please ignore the rants of the newbies.
Incredible!

I haven't heard or seen anything like this before! It's made recording a breeze, and opened up the ability to record pro songs without the space or equipment for recording a live drum kit! This has made full band recording possible!
Great Sound but Cubase LE users watch out!
by Blu from Denton TX, September 2007

This is a great an easy to use product. It really takes the work out of drum programming. I am not a drummer and don't want to be. There are so many samples and the interface is great to use. I set up a drum track in about 10 minutes! One bummer however was that you can not drag and drop midi files in Cubase LE. This is the free version of cubase that comes with a lot of interfaces today. Drag and drop was one of the main reasons for me purchasing the ez drummer software. Their website says it is compatible. Then way down in the FAQ you learn that you can't drag and drop with Cubase LE. I had to upgrade to Cubase SE,and now I am all set. But out another 70 bucks for the upgrade and Steinberg key.
Absolutely Awsome

I love EZdrummer, I use it all the time. I can't get over the interface. Visualizing you siting, and playing helps not only feel of a pattern, but see it. I do wish there was an option to make the interface larger or smaller (without having to change your display settings). Still awsome...
EZ Drummer is it!!!!!
by Saeed Iqbal from Pakistani on residence visa in Dubai, UAE, July 2007
Music Background: Playing guitar since 1988 Played with various bands in Pakistan, now working on my guitar instrumentals album.
I got my EZDrummer two days back and I think it's an amazing product.
Currently I am using Cubase SX 2 for my all recording. Previously for drum sampling I was using
FruityLoops (which is also a good product) but the problem I was facing was having to create drum
loops in Fruityloops and then import them in Cubase as .wav file. If I needed to add anything or
change the tempo I had to redo all the loops and import again in Cubase. This process was getting
very tedious and time consuming.
There are many advantages of using EZDrummer. Firstly all samples are loaded with the product and
available packs. There is no need to manually organize sample directories. The interface is very
visual which is very pleasing and gives a good idea of which drum is being hit. The preset midi
files which trigger drum sounds are very playable and a lot of variety is available to choose from.
The feature I liked the most is that when you play the preset beats inside Cubase, EZ Drummer
automatically adjusts to the metronome of Cubase and all you need to do is change the presents to
match your taste and composition (I sometimes record my musical ideas without drums and only use
the metronome and add drums later on) The drums sound great but you might need to add a little
compression and EQ to make them more crisp and tight. EXDrummer is very well priced product and I
highly recommend it to anyone.
THE ONLY DRUMMER YOU NEED

I HAVE MY OWN DRUM SET-UP IN MY RECORDING STUDIO, RATHER THAN GETTING A SESSIONIST ID JUST PROGRAM MY OWN DRUM SEQUENCE OF THE SONG AND MY CLIENTS CANT DISTINGUISH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE EZ DRUMMER AND THE LIVE DRUMS I HAD DONE BEFORE, ID ENCOURAGE ANY PRODUCER TO BUY THIS PRODUCT ESPECIALLY IF YOUR PRETTY GOOD IN PROGRAMMING YOUR OWN DRUM TRACKS OR YOU COULD EVEN USE THE AWSOME MIDI LIBRARY , FOR THE PRICE I COULD BUY 20 OF THIS TO EQUAL THE PRICE OF THE DRUM SET I HAVE
The name belies the quality

You'd expect something called "ez drummer" to give you a similar experience to Fruity Loops. But when you load this up and get a loop going, you'll be blown away. It worked perfectly as a VST instrument in Sonar 5 right out of the gate - it's such a downer when things don't work out of the box. The level of control over the sound is incredible, and I've been able to go from a convincing alt-country sound to a punchy pop-rock sound with only a few adjustments.
My one gripe is the organization of the included loops - it's a little hard to browse and will take you a few minutes to find the beat you're looking for. However, this ends up being rather minor. In all, it's a wonderful addition for anyone who doesn't have a drum recording setup.
the wait is over

Great Software!!
by Dave from USA, October 2006

I was hesitant to spend the extra money since there are some cheaper products out there. DEFINITELY worth it. It would actually be worth it for $200! DO NOT get DFH2! I got it, and didn't even open it after reading some reviews.
Anyway, the interface w/ the drumkit is really cool, and I was up and running in no time. I use SONAR so a quick visit to the forums on how to insert it and BAM! I was using it in songs. The Toontrack forums are really helpful too.
I got this before I got my MIDI controller and the drag and drop function is really easy. So is the "paint" and "draw" function. Don't be intimidated by the software, it really is designed for a beginner.
Soundwise: Very real! It's not as versatile as DFHS, but it's designed that way and in all honesty, sometimes too many options can get too overwhelming. You can adjust the microphone levels and get a really dry or wet sound. The EZX (expansion packs) are out now so I'll be getting at least one of those.
Bottom line, it's worth the price, it's simple, it sounds great, and although it does take some time to load up (only a minute or so) it doesn't tax the CPU too much.
Love it......

I just purchased EZ Drummer, and I love it. I feel so comfortable looking at a drum set while I create my drum patterns. I'm so glad I can also alter the preset grooves midi files, and they look exactly like a normal midi pattern on my matrix screen in Logic. It's just EZ, EZ.......EZ.....
P.S. I can't wait to purchase the Expansions.
Thank goodness for EZDrummer and Sweetwater
by Mike F from Zelienople PA, June 2006

I am a studio hobbyist and ALWAYS had difficulty getting a realistic drum sound without feeling like I was "cheating" by just using loops or settling for drum machine sounds that I didn't have the patience or knowledge to make sound really good. And then I bought EZDrummer! Wow! It really does sound like a real drummer, AND it's true to it's name, it's EASY to make it sound great. I am totally impressed and sooo happy that I decided to spend the money on this product. And of course Sweetwater had it to my door in no time for a fair price and excellent customer service as well. And no I don't work for them or even know anyone who does work for either company. I'm just really impressed with both companies and am totally satisfied with my purchase and wanted to share the knowledge with my fellow musicians, so I took a moment of my time to do so :).
GREAT
