The EX66 definitely stood their ground. They lack a little bit of definition in the mid range compared the the genelecs, but still had plenty of detail. They do offer much more clarity and accuracy in the low end and certainly reach lower frequencies than the 8030s. They also translate very well. Did I mention loud? If you produce music where the bass or kick really need to punch through, these are the monitors to get. I talk about the EX66's with every electronic musician I come in contact with (even national touring professionals). The bass response on these speakers is massive, and they do it at a reasonable price. Most music producers that are doing Hip Hop, dance music, or electronic metal can really benefit from these. Not only do they sound great, but you can really crank them up in the production phase of your project. I would not personally recommend them for mixing or mastering, but for song production they are stellar.
