Serious Genre-Warping Production Tools! The KORG Electribe-SX (ESX-1) represents a new generation of Electribes - powerful dance music products that cover everything from laying down stunning tracks to creating exhilarating live performances. Housed in a sleek, rugged metal chassis, the ESX-1 features a new backlit LCD that provides a wealth of information during programming or performance. Brand New Control The intuitive step-time/realtime interface of the ESX-1 has been enhanced with a new Ribbon and Slider control. Effects, Motion Sequencing, and Pattern length have all been expanded. A brand-new KORG filter lets you chose Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass or Band Pass Plus. A Plethora of Patterns Up to 256 patterns can be created and stored to the ESX-1 internal memory. You can combine patterns, add mute data and knob movements to create up to 64 songs. To get you started, a wide assortment of patterns covering house, hip-hop, R&B, electronica, drum'n'bass, techno, trance and more come preloaded - 128 in the KORG Electribe-SX. Using the last step function, you can easily adjust to any odd meter. Favorite patterns can be assigned to Pattern Sets for instant access and data can be quickly saved and loaded via SmartMedia. Knobs, Switches and More Audio inputs allow you to process external signals through the on-board KORG filter and effects, and an extra pair of assignable outputs has been added as well. The ESX-1 front panel knobs and switches control all the most important sound parameters, allowing you to modify the sound in realtime as you perform, and giving you a hands-on feel like that of an analog synthesizer. Sampling Success Using sample based sound creation, the KORG Electribe-SX can generate a total of 16 parts that can be used for building patterns. Nine parts are set up to play as "one-shot" samples, or Drum Parts. Two additional Keyboard Parts allow samples to be played melodically on the ESX-1 at various pitches right from the step keys or a MIDI input. Sampled loops can be assigned to the KORG Stretch Parts. As Stretch Parts, their tempos can be adjusted without affecting their pitch - this allows two sample loops recorded at different tempos to be played back at the same tempo in sync. A generous 285 seconds of memory (at 44.1kHz ) can be used to create up to 384 of your own samples. Plus, on the ESX-1, samples (.WAV/AIFF format) can be imported and exported via SmartMedia. Punch it with a TUBE! The KORG Electribe-SX has the added punch of Valve Force circuitry - an analog tube circuit powered by two vacuum tubes that allows you to add tube warmth and presence to your sound at the output stage. Three stereo effect processors give you the tools to radically change your sound. Sweetwater Expert Advice     "Korg really did this box right! Customization is the name of the game with the Electribe-SX. Unlike some other sample based sequencers, Korg set the Electribe-SX apart by including the ability to manipulate the preset samples as well as your own custom samples with effects, filters, and modulation. I had the opportunity to use this unique box on a project in my studio and I found that the creativity was endless. The tubes make this my favorite sample-based music creation box. I was able to get more punch out of the sounds I was creating. The best part for me was the ribbon/slider arpeggiator. I was really able to customize the synth part in the song and I can see how this would make for a great improv tool for DJs in a club/dance environment."
