A 335 Inspired by Roy Orbison Back by popular demand! After the massive success of the 70th anniversary Orbison 335 Ebony in 2006 (sold out in two hours!), the Custom Shop is returning with another limited run. Don't miss another chance to capitalize on the global popularity of Roy Orbison. Only 200 will be built! The Gibson Custom Shop Inspired by Roy Orbison 335 - It was a good day for rock and roll when a young Roy Orbison asked his daddy for a harmonica and got a guitar instead. To commemorate what would be the 70th birthday of the man who influenced the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bernie Taupin and (oh, who wasn't influenced by Roy?), Gibson will build only 200 Inspired by Roy Orbison 335s, based on the guitar that he played with the Traveling Wilburys. Roy's original was made in Nashville in 1982. He had modified his guitar with a T-P6 tailpiece for fine tuning of the intonation. Gibson has accurately reproduced this guitar with the exacting neck dimensions and slightly aged look to the lacquer to be true to Roy's original. Looking for some inspiration? Try a Gibson Custom Shop Inspired by Roy Orbison 335. Gibson Custom Shop Inspired by Roy Orbison 335 at a Glance:

Not Too Fat, Not Too Thin No, we're not talking about the latest fad diet, we're talking about the '59 rounded neck profile. Many players who have never picked up a guitar with this kind of neck are often shocked at how easily it handles. '57 classic pickups With a "Patent Applied For" decal on the baseplate, the '57 Classic humbuckers are faithful replicas of the famous Gibson pickups that helped define the music of the late 1950s. While this timeless beauty gives you a tone that is warm and subtle with full, even response, it doesn't hold back when you need that classic Gibson humbucker crunch! The '57 Classic features Gibson's special Alnico II magnet, vintage enamel coated wire, and nickel-plated pole pieces. Gibson Custom Shop Inspired by Roy Orbison 335 Features:
The Gibson Custom Shop Inspired by Roy Orbison 335 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to both honor a musical icon and own an iconic instrument. Gibson: Don't Mess with a Good Thing Gibson guitars have been around for well over a century. When guitarists are looking for an outstanding combination of superb tone and playability along with great looks and gorgeous finishes, the choice for most of those 100 plus years has been Gibson. From their amazing collection of fine acoustics to the electric guitars that literally rewrote music history, Gibson guitars have been on almost every chart-topping album from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream and Led Zeppelin. These "first call" instruments also cross an enormous array of diverse styles, from folk and country to blues and hard rock. With that resume, it's not surprising that so many of Gibson's best-selling instruments have changed little over the decades. Because there's just no sense in messing with a good thing!
