Reissue of the Classic Axe! The ES-335 electrified the guitar world in the late '50s and quickly became a favorite axe for all styles of music. The reissue faithfully recreates the original body design of the ES-335, combining it with a slim-taper 1960-style neck. The ES-335 features a maple body and a mahogany neck with pearloid block inlays. Add vintage-toned Burstbucker Pro humbuckers, and you have a guitar that's both a stunning instrument and a piece of music history. There are few other guitars that match the ES-335 for sheer star power. Gibson ES-335 at a Glance:
Semi-Hollow Body Design with Maple Top, Back and Sides with Mahogany Neck The first ES-335s that rolled off the Gibson production line have truly achieved legendary status. In the 1960s, the chinkier, 1950s neck was replaced with a thinner neck, and the dot inlays were replaced with block inlays. Structurally, the ES-335 didn't change much from the '50s to the '60s, but the slimmer neck aided fast fretwork making it a perfect fit for the blues-inspired psyhechedelic rock of the '60s. The maple body coupled with the mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard provide the perfect balance of warmth and bite, making the ES-335 suitable for a wide variety of musical styles. Burstbucker Pro Pickups The BurstBucker Pro enhances the vintage "edge" of Gibson's popular BurstBucker pickups with the added feature of an Alnico 5 magnet. In 2000, Gibson's new BurstBuckers captured the subtle variations in true humbucker tone with historically accurate "unmatched" bobbin windings and an Alnico II magnet. Two years later, Gibson developed an Alnico 5 BurstBucker. Thanks to the outstanding performance of this new pickup, all "Pure Tone Lovers" can now have stunning humbucking tone. Gibson ES-335 Block Inlay Features:
The Gibson ES-335 delivers both punch and finesse! Gibson: Don't Mess with a Good Thing Gibson guitars have been around for well over a century. When guitarists are looking for an outstanding combination of superb tone and playability along with great looks and gorgeous finishes, the choice for most of those 100 plus years has been Gibson. From their amazing collection of fine acoustics to the electric guitars that literally rewrote music history, Gibson guitars have been on almost every chart-topping album from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream and Led Zeppelin. These "first call" instruments also cross an enormous array of diverse styles, from folk and country to blues and hard rock. With that resume, it's not surprising that so many of Gibson's best-selling instruments have changed little over the decades. Because there's just no sense in messing with a good thing!
