Semi-Hollow Body Design with Maple Top, Back and Sides with Mahogany Neck The first ES-335s that rolled off the Gibson production line have truly achieved legendary status. In the 1960s, the chinkier, 1950s neck was replaced with a thinner neck, and the dot inlays were replaced with block inlays. Structurally, the ES-335 didn't change much from the '50s to the '60s, but the slimmer neck aided fast fretwork making it a perfect fit for the blues-inspired psyhechedelic rock of the '60s.
