With the Gibson ES-339, players who had found the ES-335 unwieldy can now tap into classic semi-hollowbody tones. The body size of the ES-339 is more comparable to a Les Paul, but the sound and soul of an ES-335 comes through loud and clear. This scaled-down beauty sports a side-mounted output jack. To ensure that players find the guitar that fits them the best, either a 30/60 slim early '60s neck or chunkier 1959 neck is available on the ES-339.

Classic styling with redesigned body
With a body size closer to that of a Les Paul, the ES-339 is the perfect semi-hollowbody for players used to traditional solidbody guitars. The ES-339 features smaller body dimensions but sacrifices none of that huge semi-hollow tone that makes the ES-335 universally appealing. Lighter, more compact and comfortable than a traditional semi-hollow guitar, the ES-339 feels like a Les Paul but sounds like an ES-335.

Two different neck profiles available
The Gibson neck has long divided guitarists into two distinct camps: '50s-style chunky neck fans and fans of the '60s-style slimmer neck. The ES-339 is offered in both neck profiles, so you can feel free to pick the one that feels best in your hands. A smaller, more comfortable body and your choice of neck profiles means that now any guitarist can tap into the classic sound of an ES-335 with a guitar that's a bit easier to manage physically.

Electronics
It should come as no surprise that this re-imagined version of a classic is equipped with a pair of '57 Classic humbuckers. What is unique electronically is the inclusion of the Memphis Tone Circuit that uses 500k audio taper pots that preserve the high end as the volume is rolled back. The volume control is logarithmic for smooth, even roll-on and roll-off.
