Great Feature Set, Adequate Sound
by Tim from Oakland, CA USA, September 2008
Music Background: Live Sound Engineer of 7 years, Student
I've used these for about 3 years, and I can tell you that these are really easy to use, not too heavy, and the built-in mixer means you can set up a PA in seconds. The sound, however is a bit lacking. The sound is pretty shaped, leaning pretty hevilly toward the low end. Mids are muddy, and they feed back pretty easily compared to most passive cabs. In terms of music quality, (and compared to the new-gen SRM450), they are nothing to write home about. But in terms of usability and features, they rock.
One word of advice: The Mic/Line level selector switch for the XLR input is really small and you need a paperclip or some other pointy utensil to manipulate it. Make sure to check it before you fire up the amp, as a wrong setting can damage both your hearing and the speaker.

I agree (Best Keyboard Amp)
by Eric from Fort Wayne, IN, June 2007
Music Background: Pro Musician
I agree with the first reviewer that this is an incredible option for keyboard players. When I use a pair of these to play in stereo, I've never heard a better sound coming from any keyboard amp. There's not much more to say really, great sound, extremely versatile, you can't go wrong...Ok I'll admit I'm describing what amounts to a $1400 keyboard amp. But what's the point of buying a $2000 keyboard if you run it through a mediocre amp. In my opinion, if you play keyboard, it's just the cost of doing business. Poor sound quality is not an option.
For everyone else, I've used these in a general sound reinforcement role as well and if the space isn't huge or you don't need to blow em away, these do a fine job. Also great to take along a single speaker, plug in a mike, and you're good to go for a simple PA.
The ultimate Keyboard amp
by Ed Coury from Detroit, July 2006
Music Background: Pro musician
Many keyboard players use powered speakers as amps. But this is ideal -- mainly because it has a mini mixer BUILT IN (unlike Mackie, Yamaha, etc.). Power is more than enough to keep up with the crazy guitar player and his massive stack. You'll feel pain before you hear distortion. It also is very very versatile -- mounts on a stand, sits on the floor at an angle, or can face straight ahead. Has 1 XLR in (with a button for line or mic level), and 2 1/4" inputs, ALL with individual level control. Has XLR out as well!
