by Cliff Shelton from Norcross, GA USA
I won this guitar at a local music store and it inspired me to start playing again after years of not doing it. So far it's been great - the tone is superb, with bright highs and deep lows. The constr... read more [+]uction and finish are exceptional - the Grover “butterbean” tuners stay in tune and the neck is a great fit for my hands. The solid rosewood back and sides and the sitka spruce top make it sound really nice and warm and several friends who are local musicians have commented on how good it sounds. There were no flaws anywhere on it, and I practically went over it with a fine-toothed comb. I've been really impressed and it's certainly a guitar I'd buy again. September 30, 2008 Music Background: Hobbyist and amateur Great product, and I was never really much of an Epiphone enthusiast before either, but I love this thing, and it's helping me to relearn everything I thought I'd forgotten! I love this guitar and highly recommend it. close [-] My Move-Up guitar

When I began to learn guitar at 41, I did not want to go all out and buy an expensive guitar and then not keep up the hobby. So I initially bought an Olympia OD-5 which was reasonable, but I did keep ... read more [+]playing guitar and outgrew it. When I went to upgrade, I played a Taylor, Breedlove and this DR-500R. I fell in love with the DR-500R right away, especially the light action. I have been trying to work through the moveable fingerings in Fretboard Logic, and I just could not do it with the Olympia even with light strings. With this Epiphone I am able to play all kinds of chords that I could not play before. I also really enjoy the sound of this guitar. My friend who is an accomplished guitar player confirmed that this was a major step up. I expect to keep this guitar for many years. Oh, yes it comes with a very nice Hard/Soft case with a built in hydrometer. close [-]

This guitar is amazing right out of the box. The action is great, the neck is fast and easy to finger. The tone is unreal. I compared it to a Gibson J-45 and liked this better.
