I played a full sized dred for a long time, but decided to try a smaller guitar that was a little easier to hold and play. I tried a number of similar sized guitars at various shops, but the Epiphone... read more [+] Masterbilts are such a good value that I bought this without having played one. Wow. That was my first impression, and having played my EF-500M daily for over a month, I still love it. The construction and finish are great, equal to much more expensive guitars, but the sound is what I really love. The mahogany has a really nice mellow tone, but it still has bright highs. I tried several sets of strings, but have settled on Elixer 80/20 Nanowebs, 53-12. Not a single thing I would change about this guitar. close [-]

any guitar, the main thing should be sound/playabity of each one. upon first playing this one, the sound really projects very well . the satin finish allows the guitar's sound not to be hampered under... read more [+] the usual coats of finish(wich are only for looks anyway)add in that the nut and the saddle are made from bone and "oh yeah, how sweet it is"!! the wider set string spacing (1.75") for ease of finger playing is great. nice smaller body type size feels good and the weight feels nice and lite ... an extra thing is the rather nice embroidered case wich even has a hydrometer gage inside for checking the humidity when you lay this puppy down to sleep. I am truley pleased with this gem and impressed that the quality and designs of the 1930's is still quite as nice today. every person that has heard it has mentioned how the sound is really being projected ,really fills a room nicely. close [-]
