From Our Research Team:All Solid Wood Masterbuilt EpiThe Masterbuilt Epiphone DR-500MCE acoustic-electric guitar is a rarity: a new instrument with a distinctly vintage vibe, big, balanced tone, and buttery playability. But it gets even better: the DR-500MCE is all solid wood - and it's amazingly affordable! Oh, yes - one more thing - Epi's loaded this cutaway dreadnought with premium electronics - Shadow's NanoMag neck and NanoFlex bridge pickups, and an eSonic-2 stereo preamp with integrated tuner and feedback zapper switch. Is this all good to be true? No, the Epiphone DR-500MCE is real, and it's here at Sweetwater, waiting for you!Epiphone DR-500MCE Acoustic/electric guitar at a Glance:
All solid wood, for great tone and resonance In the Epiphone DR-500MCE, solid wood is used throughout the instrument, giving you big, balanced sound and unmatched resonance. In it's price range, you'd be hard pressed to find acoustic guitars with solid wood backs and sides. Epiphone - happily - has a different approach: they built the DR-500MCE with a solid mahogany body, a Solid Sitka spruce top, and a glued-in, dove-tailed neck joint. The result? A brand new instrument with rich robust lows, balanced, lucid mids, and bell-like, shimmering highs. We've all heard the expression, "they don't build 'em like they used to." Well, Epiphone does! Masterbuilt Epiphones: a grand lineage The Epiphone DR-500MCE stems from a renowned lineage. Since their first release in June of 1931, Masterbuilt Epiphone acoustics have been coveted by guitarists of all genres for their easy playability and exceptional tone. The company stated in the original Epiphone Masterbilt catalog: "The possessor of an Epiphone instrument has the assurance that every possible precaution has been taken to build instruments by lifetime performance and pleasure." This promise is restated today on the Epiphone website, and is backed up by their Limited Lifetime Warranty. Stage-ready, with superior onboard electronics With Epiphone's DR-500MCE acoustic-electric guitar, you're always ready to take the stage. Epiphone has fitted this fine guitar with Shadow's NanoMag neck pickup and NanoFlex bridge pickup, and the eSonic-2 stereo preamp. This combination gives you natural-sounding amplification and outstanding ease-of-use. the system features stereo output and a built-in tuner. To control your sound, you get a master volume, separate EQ controls for the NanoMag and NanoFlex pickups, a phase switch for killing feedback, and a tuner activation switch with output mute. Cheryll, Lott, TX Reviewsbased on 4 reviewsEnjoying my new Guitar..
by Rick Myerscough from United States
This guitar is really nice. I have been playing since teenage years off and on. I look at playing as a life time experience and this new DR-500MCE will be a life time keeper. Sounds great both with... read more [+] and without amp. and the action is very nice. Workmanship and quality is very nice. I am not a professional or expert when it comes to comparing instruments... but I have tried many guitars in music shops to see how more expensive guitars feel and sound. In my experience this guitar is one of the best I have ever put in my hands and I am enjoying it and look forward to many years of playing. March 25, 2013 Music Background: Hobby player.. Amazing tone and playability...I might sell my Martin!
by Jeffrey McDonald from Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA
This Masterbuilt DR-500MCE just might be the best acoustic guitar I have ever played. It matches my Martin for playability, tone and for keeping in tune. I played this guitar right out of the box, as ... read more [+]it was STILL in tune, although just a touch sharp according to my ears. I retuned it with the built in eSonic pre-amp tuner after 20 minutes of playing and it stayed tuned after I played it through the entire “The Wall” album, both CD’s. I am now glad that I have to repair the cracks on the Soundboard of my Alvarez, (the reason I bought the cheaper Masterbuilt!) which is a fine guitar on its own. This guitar is truly amazing. close [-]
December 16, 2012 Music Background: I've played since my hands were big enough to play a guitar...about 53 years This Guitar Sings!!!!
by James Gabrielson from Minneapolis, MN
When I first purchased this guitar I was a bit skeptical. I played a lot of guitars before I settled on this one. I didn't know about Sweetwater before I purchased this guitar, wish I had. First off t... read more [+]he picture of the "Natural" top appears to be the wrong picture. My DR-500MCE is a cutaway like the picture of the "Sunburst" model. It has the eSonic2 system in it and I could only play it through the "mono" 1/4" jack. (it has two 1/4" jacks.(One from the Nanoflex pup under the saddle, the other from the Nanomag pup at the end of the fret board so you can separate them and play in stereo). When I plugged this guitar into a 2 channel amp, with separate cords WOW! It just cam alive! The eSonic2 allows you to control both pups from pots with center detents as well as a sliding mixer, volume ctrl, and tuner that mutes the guitar when in use. I've never experienced this kind of sound before. The Yamaha 12 string I have (A FGX model) only has one pickup, which for a 12 string is probably enough. This Epi really sings when plugged in separating the pickups. It is also buttery smooth to play. When I first started playing it I didn't want to stop. I played it alongside other, more expensive guitars and it held its own. I'm no pro but the sound from this sure is. close [-]
