Reviews"All I CAn Say Is WOW"
by David K. from Northeast Ohio
I had been researching buying a new Electric Guitar for well over six months. I was aware of the Epiphone Elitist models but did not know alot about them. I alsoJune 18, 2007 Music Background: Hobbyist, Self Taught, also use midi controllers. checked out just about every ma... read more [+]nufacturer out there and eliminated some early on by playing them, others by consistent bad reviews in numerous forums and also got completely dissalusioned with our local guitar shops(both big box and smaller brick and morter shops who because they did not have what I was looking for or did not like what they had said I did not need that particular brand/model and go with this one "its on sale" I started to research the Elitist models and had a Epiphone Catalog which had the series in it and all the pick up info, build materials etc. I then went out to the Epiphone forums and multiple others and could not find one negative comment about a Epiphone Elitist (Regardless of model) I knew I wanted a solid body and dual humbucker guitar and that left me with several models to pick from, I narrowed it down to the Les Paul Custom and the 57" Goltop. Utilizing the Guitar Gallery I got great looks at the guitars and then e-mailed Ted Hunter who I have worked with before on other gear purchases, but I have never bought a guitar from Sweetwater. He and his assistant Ryan Thorpe were both very helpful, no-pressure, followed up on questions I had and I decided to sleep on it to hopefully decide which model. I had been thinking all along that the Goldtop had a more Vintage look to it and I went with the 57' Goldtop. The Guitar arrived very quickly and was flawless when I received it. The build quality on the Elitist Guitars is just unbelieveable and the sound is just incredible. The sustain from this guitar is like no other I have played. I had a Gibson Les Paul Standard in the past (a 2001 model bought new) and the Elitist 57"Goldtop (IMO) sounds amazingly better! It stays in tune without issue, is just plain gorgeous and I think it is one of the Gibson/Epiphone Families best kept secret! It is built in Japan with all Gibson USA parts so you save alot of money as well without any decrease in sound or quality. I think the 57' Goldtop if I went through Gibson it would be a Custom Shop order at well over $3,000!!!. I am going to start saving for another (probaly the Dot) I would highly recomend this guitar, the Elitist Series and Sweetwater.com. I have no fear of buying a expensive(to me) guitar via the internet from Sweetwater, other online companies or big box shops no way! Thanks too Ted and Ryan!, also play keyboards close [-] Epiphone Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop (Metallic Antique Gold)
