From Our Research Team:

Epi's Elitist Version of the Legendary '57 Gold Top Les Paul!

As with all Elitist Epiphones, the Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop is made with premium woods and excellent construction methods — the guitar feels absolutely seamless. The double-bound body is made from two pieces of book-matched mahogany, with a hard maple top. The vintage nickel hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic bridge, skirted strap buttons and large Grover tuners. Two vintage nickel-covered humbuckers made by Gibson especially for the Elitist Series generate the magnetic amplification for this exemplary Les Paul. Control comes via a standard three-way toggle and individual volume and tone pots. This Elitist version of Gibson's legendary '57 Les Paul Gold Top, a guitar of unprecendented sustain and tone, brings you the warm voice and rich harmonic content of this historic instrument at an affordable price.

The beefy 24.75-inch scale neck is made from a single piece of African mahogany and features a rosewood board with a 1.68-inch nut, a 12-inch radius, block inlays and full binding. This Elitist beauty may just knock your dream Les Paul into second place.

The Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop Wood
At the heart of every great instrument is the wood itself. That’s why every piece of wood used in the Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop line is hand-selected. It is then slowly and painstakingly dried to perfection in custom kilns until it is at the ideal moisture content. The Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop features book-matched African mahogany back and sides and a book-matched maple top.

The Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop Neck
All Elitist necks are cut at a 14o grain orientation from one piece of wood for optimum strength, stability and tonal response. As with all great instruments, the necks are then carefully and individually fitted to the body using a hand-glued, dovetail neck joint. The Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop has a 22 fret, 1-piece mahogany set neck with a rosewood fingerboard, which imparts a warmer midrange sound.

The Elitist Pickups
All Elitist instruments are equipped with custom-wound pickups “Made in the USA” exclusively for Epiphone by Gibson Musical Instruments and feature such uncompromising features as:

- High Quality Cover Materials – All pickup covers use quality German silver with vintage Nickel or real 24K Gold finish.

- Vintage Braided, Shielded Wire – For authentic vintage look and tone with no noise.

- Full Wax Potting – Every pickup is potted in a special wax bath to insure that microphonic feedback due to internal vibration is eliminated. All covered models receive a second wax bath to further protect the pickup.

- Specially Made Magnets – All magnets are magnetized by Gibson to ensure the total reliability of each magnet’s performance. Critical magnetic flux is maintained for the perfect combination of output without sacrificing tonal characteristics.

The Elitist Hardware
All Elitist instruments feature the finest hardware including precision Grover machine heads for precise tuning accuracy
and stability.

The Art is in the Elitist Details
The Epiphone Elitist Les Paul '57 Goldtop 's appointments are nothing but the finest including real abalone and pearl Inlays, bone nuts and saddles, hand-rubbed finishes, USA strings, and it goes through a meticulous adjustment and set-up.

"All I CAn Say Is WOW"

Music Background: Hobbyist, Self Taught, also use midi controllers.
I had been researching buying a new Electric Guitar for well over six months. I was aware of the Epiphone Elitist models but did not know alot about them. I also
checked out just about every ma... read more [+]nufacturer out there
and eliminated some early on by playing them, others
by consistent bad reviews in numerous forums and also
got completely dissalusioned with our local guitar shops(both big box and smaller brick and morter shops
who because they did not have what I was looking for
or did not like what they had said I did not need that particular brand/model and go with this one "its on sale"

I started to research the Elitist models and had a Epiphone Catalog which had the series in it and all the pick up info, build materials etc. I then went out to the Epiphone forums and multiple others and could not find one negative comment about a Epiphone Elitist
(Regardless of model) I knew I wanted a solid body
and dual humbucker guitar and that left me with several models to pick from, I narrowed it down to the Les Paul
Custom and the 57" Goltop. Utilizing the Guitar Gallery I got great looks at the guitars and then
e-mailed Ted Hunter who I have worked with before on other gear purchases, but I have never bought a guitar from Sweetwater. He and his assistant Ryan Thorpe were both very helpful, no-pressure, followed up on questions I had and I decided to sleep on it to hopefully decide which model. I had been thinking all along that the Goldtop
had a more Vintage look to it and I went with the 57'
Goldtop. The Guitar arrived very quickly and was flawless when I received it. The build quality on the Elitist Guitars is just unbelieveable and the sound is
just incredible. The sustain from this guitar is like no other I have played. I had a Gibson Les Paul Standard in the past (a 2001 model bought new) and the
Elitist 57"Goldtop (IMO) sounds amazingly better!
It stays in tune without issue, is just plain gorgeous
and I think it is one of the Gibson/Epiphone Families
best kept secret! It is built in Japan with all Gibson
USA parts so you save alot of money as well without
any decrease in sound or quality. I think the 57' Goldtop if I went through Gibson it would be a Custom Shop order at well over $3,000!!!. I am going to start saving for another (probaly the Dot) I would highly recomend this guitar, the Elitist Series and Sweetwater.com. I have no fear of buying a expensive(to me) guitar via the internet from Sweetwater, other online companies or big box shops no way! Thanks too Ted and Ryan!, also play keyboards close [-]

I can talk to my Sales Engineer about any piece of equipment, and he always steers me in the right direction. He truly knows what he's talking about, and he never tries to over-sell me on anything. If he worked in the Nashville area, I'd probably owe him about 20 dinners by now!
