The Gibson SG is known for its sustain and great tone. They had a rather thin twin horn body. This two horned body is what gives the SG more access to the higher frets on the fretboard (Could this be why people call guitars there AXE?) It had a somewhat sinister look to it so much so that Angus Young (of AC/DC) had Gibson make one with a lightning bolt. I love this guitar it sounds great and it has great craftsmanship but it kinda scratches easily but I'd doesn't really matter it's s great guitar so go and buy it right now
