This little guitar is an astounding buy. Right out of the box it was set up fine, no sharp frets anywhere, intonation correct, action fantastic. Looking over this instrument I find it 99.9% fit and fi... read more [+]nish perfect. (Mine has one very small flaw in the stain on the 3-piece back - no big deal) This guitar looks and plays great. I think this guitar is larger and deeper than a 'parlor' size guitar. Mine is 4" deep at the lower bout and tapers up to 3 5/8" deep at the upper bout. The lower bout is 14" wide and the top bout is 10 1/4" wide. The body is 19 1/4" long. Overall length of the guitar is around 40 1/8". I purchased a Travelite Case for Classical/Dobro TL-60 and it fits the New Yorker perfectly. Interestingly enough there are some shops 'hot-rodding' the EG416S-VS by dropping in the Takamine CTP-2 Cool Tube Preamp. Now that would be something. Overall I am more than happy with this guitar. There's not too many bargains out there like this one right now from Sweetwater. close [-]
January 17, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist Price/Performance Winner!

Honestly, for the price I paid for this guitar I truly was blown way. I wanted something comfortable to play live, and the smaller body of the "New Yorker" caught my attention due to it's advertised f... read more [+]eatures and price point. The acoustic sound is formidable, and though it won't compete volume wise with a heavily strummed dreadnought, it does compliment the sound by having more of a bright midrange and high end. The onboard electronics allow one to drastically manipulate the tone via the 3-band EQ. I perform with a Fishman LoudBox Mini and the ability to adjust the EQ on the guitar instead of on the amplifier as I did when using a magnetic sound-hole pickup is convenient. I adjust my EQ settings for flat-picking, finger-style, and for what I refer to as "thumb-strumming" in order to better suit the song I am performing and I can get the exact tone I am trying to achieve. The frets, action, finish, and overall playability are well above average and I wouldn't complain if the guitar were $700. It's not a $1800 Taylor, but I wouldn't be taking an $1800 Taylor in to some of the dives I play anyway, so this guitar serves the purpose for which it was intended. It feels good, it plays well, and it sounds good. close [-]
