B... read more [+]ut after changing to Elixir Nanoweb 11-52, the tone became fuller and richer. The action was perfect set up, and the playability of this guitar is great. The built-in tuner is very accurate, i have tested it up against the Korg Pitchblack tuner and i find it very accurate. Being just a hobbyist, i am not an expert on guitars, but if you are looking for a guitar that sounds great but still don't look like a million dollar (i like the vintage and worn style), this may be the one you are looking for. And the case following this guitar was great to, so don't hesitate, just buy it! close [-]

I absolutely love this guitar. I will be using it often for practice and some gigging. It was priced so low... $400 off the list price and then another $100 rebate... I wondered what would be wrong wi... read more [+]th it. HOping for just a great deal, I bought it. Actually, there was something wrong with the guitar. The nut extends out past the nec about /8". Doesn't sound like much. But, it is. Each time I went to play a simple 1st position chord, my palm would rub against the nut. This actually began to HURT. Before too long i was considering sending the axe back. Then it just seemed so easy to rasp the nut down to size and sand it smooth. I did. It is smooth as glass now, and plays beautifully. I truly believe this is the reason for the first $400 knock-off of the list price. My little fix makes the $400 SO worthwhile. I would even buy another of these guitars and simply the same fix. The reason I'm not giving this guitar a 4.5 is simple. I should not have had to do this to make the guitar playable. And, truth be told, it was NOT that very simple to do. The distance now from the high E string notch on the nut to the end of the nut is now very, very, extremely short. This small amount of nut could, I think, possibly break ooff if ever I strum or pick that string to crazily. Of course I don't ever expect to play that hard, but who knows in a fast, intense moment what could happen. The engineers at Tamine are excellent. My guess is they've fixed this on newer models and will keep the price higher because of that small change.May 15, 2012 Music Background: Master's in Composition of Music, played rock and roll since I could sit at a set of drums, same with piano... just learning guitar. Recording engineer for most of my life (analog), design engineer the rest, both hardware and software. Now retired ... hap I must say, I very much like the way the guitar slims down from front to back as you move from the end of the body to where the neck meets the body. It is a good bit thinner there then at the end where the jack for the cable lives. This makes holding and playing the guitar very much easier than playing any other dreadnaught sized box. The electronics are first rate. They are absolutely clean and bright and have fantastic amplitude. The tuner is very cool. There are some other buttons I haven't even tried to figure out yet. The volume and eq levers are short throw and smooth. They are not espcially hefty... just about as flimsy as all the electronics I've ever seen... excepting Fishman. I would say this design is as close to a good Fishman as it can get. Not at all on topic. But, because I liked this Takamine so much. I bought the 12 string model I saw on the wall at an enemy guitar store. It was on sale for only $719 and it had mother of pearl inlays up the neck. The responde was excellent. It was beautiful. It had electronics a cutaway and a tuner. What more could I ask of a 12 string? I"ve never had one.. I bought this and like the Takmine 6 tring i'm reviewing here... it blew my mind how good it sounded. They are obviously chjallenging the ranks of great guitar makers at Takmine... and I'm glad to get in on these models before things change. Do yourself a favor... buy this box... make the small adjustment that is needed to the nut (carefully...) and you will have an excellent guitar at an amazing price.
