Semi-hollow maple body provides bright attack and resonant acoustic thump
Here's something we don't see every day at Sweetwater: a semi-acoustic bass. What's more, the Jack Casady Signature Bass features a maple back and sides, whose bright and naturally resonant tone compliments the woody thump of its 34"-scale bass setup. Even without its killer electronics, all you have to do is listen to the acoustic sound of the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass to know this is a very special instrument.

Specially designed pickup captures natural bass tone with extra clarity
To capture the full range of the Jack Casady Signature Bass's acoustic bass sound, Epiphone outfitted it with a specially designed low-impedance, low-output humbucker. Not only does this humbucker capture the Jack Casady Signature Bass's thump and growl beautifully, it also gives your sound the kind of clarity you don't typically get from active bass pickups.

VariTone control makes dialing in the perfect bass sound as simple as turning a knob
Epiphone's VariTone circuitry is a truly unique beast, and it's part of what makes the Jack Casady Signature Bass such a fun and distinctive instrument to play. The VariTone control lets you dial in the impedance of its active humbucking pickup from around 50 ohms to around 500 ohms, which seriously affects your sound. As you turn the Jack Casady Signature Bass's VariTone control, you shift its tone from even dynamics and full tone to a punchier response with a narrower sound and plenty of bite. This gives you an absolutely massive sonic pallet to play with!

Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass Semi-hollowbody Electric Bass Features:
  • An original bass that gives you a wide range of amazing acoustic and electric tones
  • The signature bass of one of rock's most influential bass players
  • Semi-acoustic laminate maple body adds bite and woody quality to your sound
  • Special low-impedance, low-output humbucker captures full-bodied tone with excellent clarity and definition
  • VariTone impedance shifting circuit lets you dial in a broad spectrum of excellent bass sound

The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass gives you wonderful sound, feel, and looks to match!

Epiphone Jack Casady

Well made - top of Epiphone's quality line IMO. Good range of tones and comfortable to play sitting or standing. The stock Dean Markley Blue Steel strings work well to bring out growly mids and bite; ... read more [+]fitting flats (I use Labella Deep Talkin') gives more fundamental tones and thump. Then again, a change of string type can do more to adjust your tone than thousands spent on amps.

A very good value bass; the only possible downside is the body size for some: it is essentially the same size as a Gibson ES 335 which smaller players can find awkward. Watch the bridge studs too; I've heard they can work loose but gluing them in place readily solves the problem it seems. Tuners and other hardware work flawlessly and the factory set up was fine - only usual minor tweaks needed. close [-]

I have one of the first JCB's made. It's a modern take on the Gibson Les Paul Sig Bass. The great Gibson design makes this new Epi version the best electric hollowbody bass available. This is one of the best buys in the bass world. Priced for the masses, but sounds as good or better than any pro bass available. Has its own round, organic sound, but can do rock, too. I use 760FL La ... read more [+]Bella flatwounds on mine and it just kills! A recording monster, too. close [-]

The 34" scale keeps it from being muddy. There are not many full scale hollow body bass guitars around.
Build quality is very good. My only complaint is the large body. This does contribute to the great sound though. It is not heavy, at least.
The gold color is beautiful. You get noticed.
If you want to get out of the pack ( both sound and looks) this is your ticket! close [-]
