SSL's Duende FireWire DSP-powered Plug-ins

Goethe, German poet, playwright, and philosopher, defined duende as, "A mysterious power which everyone senses and no philosopher explains." What a fitting name for a unit that provides 32 channels of DSP-powered SSL console-grade audio - without taxing your computer's resources. The Duende (pronounced "do-en-day") FireWire DSP Plug-ins are based on the algorithms of SSL's famous digital consoles. This is not a cheap imitation - Duende provides genuine SSL sound in an efficient and affordable single-rackspace unit.

Classic EQ from the SSL G and E Series
Duende brings to the table the classic EQ from the C200 console including a 12dB/octave low pass filter and 18dB/octave high pas filter. Either filter can be used pre- or post-EQ or in the sidechain of the Dynamics section. The EQ section is a flexible 4-band parametric EQ with two different voicings - one from the SSL G series and one from the E series. The EQ can also be switched into the sidechain of the Dynamics section, and have high-and low-shelving plus two overlapping EQs with adjustable Q.

SSL Dynamics
The Dynamics section in Duende boasts a variable compression ratio from 1:1 to Infinity:1, variable threshold and release, auto-sensing attack time, and Peak and RMS detection. Of course, you also get excellent limiting, expansion, and gating. The SSL Dynamics sound is responsible for controlling peaks on more records than anyone else. From rock to rap, funk to punk, the SSL Dynamics strip in Duende is what you hear on 80% of commercial releases.

Stereo Bus Compressor
Rounding out the impressive Duende plug-ins is the Stereo Bus Compressor modeled from the SL 4000G Series - the same compressor that engineers have relied on for the last 30 years to "stick the mix like audio glue." This is the sound of popular music, and you can have it in your computer -complete with outboard DSP acceleration.

Duende is compatible most major DAW software and is available for VST and AudioUnit applications with RTAS support provided via the VST-RTAS FXPansion wrapper (not included). With up to 32 channels at 48kHz (16 stereo) or 16 channels (8 stereo) at 96kHz, the proof is in the pudding!
