This Plug-in Packs Grooves from Drum Legends!

Sonoma Wire Works's DrumCore 3 is an exciting release - not just because this popular application has been expanded to include twice as much content, but because it's now operational as an RTAS, AU, or VST plug-in. Use DrumCore 3 to give your tracks their backbone - there are tons of styles, "feels," and variations included, so you can find the perfect vibe for your song. In fact, the newly designed user interface makes it easy to search for the right groove. Rock, blues, metal, jazz, funk, urban, reggae, latin, and more - it's all inside Sonoma Wire Works's DrumCore 3.

Sonoma Wire Works DrumCore 3 Virtual Drum Plug-in at a Glance:
  • Twice as much content as DrumCore 2
  • Includes an attractive new user interface, for easy groove searching
  • Vastly expanded "Basic Beats," Urban, and Jazz sections
  • LiveDrummer technology plus DrumCore loop-importing toolkit
  • Includes content from a host of music's best drummers
  • Operates as a VST, RTAS, and AU Plug-in

Twice as much content as DrumCore 2.5
Sonoma Wire Works really upped the ante with DrumCore 3, packing it with double the content featured in DrumCore 2.5. Inside, are even more audio loops and MIDI grooves covering a range of styles - from rock to pop to blues to jazz to metal, funk, Latin, reggae, urban, prog, and beyond.

Includes an attractive new user interface, for easy groove searching
Not only has Sonoma Wire Works packed DrumCore 3 with a ton of grooves, they've also revamped the user interface, making it easier to get to work - and find the feel you're looking for. Within the attractive new user interface, you can search and audition the vast amount of grooves in DrumCore via List View - and Audio Mode and MIDI Mode are clearly indicated, so you can find what you want. What's more, beats, variations, and fills are arranged into song-like GrooveSets for fast access. And, you can search content based on drummers, musical styles, "Feel" criteria (e.g., shuffle, swing, 1/8th, 1/16th, etc.) - and then you can simply drag and drop your grooves into your favorite AU, VST, or RTAS DAW application.

Vastly expanded "Basic Beats," Urban, and Jazz sections
Sonoma Wire Works went to work at the heart of DrumCore, and really expanded its core offering of "Basic Beat," Urban, and Jazz grooves, for your bread-and-butter songwriting needs. Expanded jazz content from Seattle jazz drummer Gregg Keplinger is now included. Plus, Sonoma Wire Works's popular "Urban GT" expansion pack - a $49 value - is now included, giving you tons of classic hip-hop and modern R&B MIDI grooves plus 24 drum kits.

LiveDrummer technology plus DrumCore loop-importing toolkit
With DrumCore 3's handy "LiveDrummer" technology, its MIDI engine enhancements give greater realism to drum rolls and cymbal performances for a more natural playback vibe. Just use the LiveDrummer slider to get more dynamics into your groove. And, for importing content from your favorite REX2, WAV, ACID, and AIFF loop libraries, just use the included DrumCore Toolkit - it works as a standalone application and can function via the ReWire client, much like DrumCore 2.5 did.

Includes content from a host of music's best drummers
DrumCore 3 packs in more content from great drummers, including new drum kits and grooves from Seattle rock/alternative legend Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam), all of the Tempesta Pack II expansion pack - a $79 value - and new grooves by Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins. There is, of course, still incredible content from top drummers, including Ben Smith, Terry Bozzio, Matt Sorum, Sly Dunbar, Lonnie Wilson, Zoro, Luis Conte, and more.

Operates as a VST, RTAS, and AU Plug-in
While DrumCore 2.5 was a standalone or ReWire compatible program, DrumCore 3 is now fully compatible with your DAW as a VST, RTAS, or AU plug-in.

Worth every penny

I own DrumCore 3.0. As a guitarist and a songwriter I'd been looking for a drum tool that wouldn't get in the way of creating music.. What I really like about Drumcore 3 is that it allows you to build... read more [+] drum tracks quickly and still sound great. I use ProTools LE 7.1 on an older Dell desktop (XP) and simply drag and drop the drum sections into a stereo track. I like the way drum loops are grouped into main, variations, fills, etc. as this also speeds the capture of the initial track - for me it's about getting a workable track ASAP so that I can get the whole song roughed out. My favorite feature is the ability to shift the tempo of the audio loops and they still sound great as long as you stay within the recommended tempo ranges (which are surprisingly broad). I can't say enough about DrumCore3 and I've recommended it to all of! my non-drummer friends. I was a little concerned about the price before purchasing but now that I've had about 6 months to work with it I think that it's well worth every penny. close [-]

DrumCore is essential for realism

by Lloyd Springer from Vancouver, BC Canada

Music Background: songwriter/producer
For anyone who creates songs in a studio where it is not possible (or convenient) to set up and mic a real drum kit, DrumCore is the perfect solution for you. This product gives you tonnes of grooves ... read more [+]to work with in a format which allows you to easily edit the grooves in your project to further customize them to your needs.

There is a lot of additional content included, but you can also buy expansion packs specific to this product and you can also load ALL of your REX and WAV loops from any other collections you may have. This allows DrumCore to become your main hub for storing and auditioning all of your drum loops, marking your favorites and adding keywords to help you find a style when you need it. It will play loops at any tempo you choose, allowing you to practise while playing them as well.

Easy drag and drop into your DAW when you went to start constructing your song.

I have so many virtual drum libraries (and some really good ones) which allow you to play drum kits via MIDI control. Sometimes the resulting tracks sound fairly realistic, but often they don't cut it and need something more. That's why I usually reach for DrumCore first. There is something magical about a real kit that has been recorded playing a groove in a room with the different kit pieces bleeding into the different mics and creating a cohesive sound. That's what you get when you use this DrumCore material.

You get the same groove performed at different tempos for more authenticity at whatever tempo you are working at, plus you get variations, fills, and often some broken down elements like the hi-hat track by itself so that you can break down sections of your song, or add other elements from elsewhere.

I often find myself mixing and matching elements from different DrummerPacks, which can result in some terrific sounding stuff. And you could also use some DrumCore content and overlay it with virtual drums too. There are MIDI kits for each of the drummers in the DrumCore collection, allowing you to do just that, but of course you are not limited by those kits. You can mix and match anything that sounds good to your ears to create really amazing rhythm tracks with ease.

Also gotta love the "Gabrielize" function which allows DrumCore to randomize the content of a loop for some really nice variations.

The only significant area where this product could use some improvement is when it comes to importing and editing third party content. Since you will want to have the content named and organized usefully you will need to do some manual naming and set some of the parameters when importing third party loops. This can be a little tedious when you have a lot of content which you want to divide into intelligently named sections. Hopefully this will be improved in future versions of the product so that the process is more intuitive and easy to manage.

I strongly recommend this product. In the absence of a real drummer, this is the drum track maker you need in your studio. It has made a huge difference to the realism of my songs, and it will continue to get use on all my new stuff for years to come. close [-]
