Sounds amazing!
by B.C. from Orange County, CA, August 2007

I recently purchased the new 003 rack and couldn't be happier! The sound quality is night and day compared to the M-box 2 (which I traded in through Digi). The A/D and D/A conversion quality is amazing for this price range. Even music I have recorded with my earlier M-Box 2 sounds better when played back through the 003. The new control room monitoring features are awesome. The multiple speaker selects, and dual headphone amps etc. come in very handy. The pre-amps are very transperent and will work for most applications. The only things I feel are missing are a -10 or -20 dB pad and individual pahntom power switches on inputs 1-4. Overall, this unit is great and will continue to be used untill I can upgrade to an HD system.
Really good fot new Protoolers
by Martin from Argentina, May 2007

"Great for new Protollers!"
Feature:
Really good! Lots of ins and outs, mic pres, digital i/o, Pro Tools, Asio drivers, what else... Many people agree that there's been no big improvement since 002, and I think so too, since the i/o's are the same. But the fact is that as I didn't own a 002, and I was looking foward to move to pro tools, this 003 thing with improved converters and at the same price was all that I was asking for, and since I own nothing but a home studio, there is nothing else I need. I can do my recording in an HD system, a SSL console and Neumann mic in a World-Class studio and come back home to edit and make some overdubs on my own. It really works for me.
Quality:
So good! I was wondering what I was going to get when opening the box. The Digi 003 happends to be a really well made, solid, metal, peace of gear. The pots are not the best, though. As for Pro Tools... two words: Rock Solid! (Even in my P4 2.0 PS)
Value:
Yeah man! Pro Tools, lots of work, compatibility with each and every studio in the planet, rock solid playback/record.
Desirability:
Yes. I do.
Sound:
Sound is really good. I could notice the sound quality improvement compared to my last interfase (MOTU 896HD, that sounded really good for the price). I also worked on a 002 a couple of times, and I cannot remember the sound was this good. But anyway, that was with other monitors and another room too, so... The pres acomplish there mission and far more. This system is destined for small project studios and perhaps some overdubbing, so they really work fine. If you are looking for some state-of-the-art pres, you should be thinking in spending some more money.
Ease of Use:
Pro Tools makes it all easier once you had taken the time to learn the basic shortcuts. After that is all music you think about. And I want to make clear I am not in a MAC, not even a PC, but a PS (Peace-of-Sh·%&), the hardest way to do things. Ant still was really easy to install and work with it.
Support:
Ok, this I can't really tell. All I can say is that registering and getting authorization codes for Digidesign soft was really quick. But, as for other manufacturers softs (IK, Celemony, and so on) is a pain in the butt. Copy this, paste that, conect here, check e-mail, go to hell! I cannot say anything about tech support. I live in South America, and I don't think Digidesign knows where that is.
Overall:
I spect to use this thing for a while. Eve if a I get an HD system, I would keep this for homework and field recording.
Digi 003
by Dave Soderquist from Grand Rapids, MI, May 2007

This is the interface to get if you don't want to spend thousands of dollars on your home studio. It sounds so much better than the old m-box. The clarity of my recordings are astounding. The ease of how I can navigate through all of my sessions is just amazing. I am going to be producing some killer tunes with this baby. Thanks for talking me into this Kieth. Sweetwater has earned my respect and admoration for the service that I have recieved. Pro tools 7.3 rocks and so does the 003 rack. Love it. Oh and my friends are amazed at the quality of the songs that I have been recording. That to me, says it all my friends.
DIGI 003 nice unit
by Kevin from Brockton, Ma, March 2007
Music Background: Audio Editor, Restoration, Live Recording and Electronic Musician
It is a great box that works just as well as 002 models. However I would have been good to see a signal meters above each gain knob.
The structure of the unit is nice but the plastic bezel uses too much space. This space could have been used for more critical information such as an LED screen to report status on internal activity.
Also the gain knobs feel kind of fragile, who don’t want to put any adverse pressure on this knobs they just break, and hence a good mounting location should be considered.
Of course the software is great, but 7.3 still needs to gain more ground with competitive features found in other DAWS.
