Made the jump!

Music Background:  Playing anything with a sting on it since I was 12, tons of bands, CD's and now helping others recording.

OK so i've been looking at this for about a year comparing and reading about this and other DAW's. I've been working on a Roland VS2000 for a couple of years and have made several CD's for people. But the editing was a little tricky. So anyway I received the 003 loaded pro tools and "BAM" it was a whole new world. I've read you can start right in recording so I tried and was even more impressed at play back. Give yourself some time to upload and go through the ignition pack and give your self plenty of time to see what this crazy system can do for you. I'm blown away with the editing you can do. I watched the instuctional DVD and had to go outside and let my brain cool down. I remember smiling and saying wow a lot. Now you may have to get an external hard drive to help out I did and it helped my desktop handle the load. But really if your going to record and do it well this is the system.

Now something about Sweetwater. I've talked with Chad for about a year, asking him questions about the different systems etc. he would call and check on me and then when I ordered he called to insure it was me that ordered. NICE!!!!! Security and customer service, that's nice in this day and age.

and this thing will be a 5 out of 5! seriously. for someone like myself, who has NO experience in computer based recording, i feel like i'm already doing so much(really i'm not though). the getting started manual has been extremely helpful, as well as the pro tools method 1 dvd. there's actually more information than i have been able to get through and i've had it for almost a week now. i like that i have an actual "console" to work with, i can already tell that i would have been extremely annoyed with clicking around on a virtual mixer on a computer screen.

I am new to protools so I am still learning but I am very pleased with the 003 Factory. Ton's of free software. Fast Firewire connectivity. The ability to shuttle between home studio and profesional studio without a hassle. The ability to work with the industry standard Protools and easy intergration into my exsisting studio. Do yourselves a favor and step up to protols if you haven't already. I was slow to enter the game but I am glad I did.
