All of this is available in the new Digital Performer 7!MOTU Digital Performer 7 at a Glance:
Classic guitar pedal effects Digital Performer 7's suite of stunningly accurate classic guitar pedal emulations are modeled after all-time favorites from Boss, MXR, Electro-Harmonix, Ibanez and others. These stomp box plug-ins produce authentic tones made famous by the signature guitar sounds of artists such as Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Carlos Santana, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, and many other rock/pop legends. When users dial in settings for their favorite guitar tones, the resulting sound is identical to - and indistinguishable from - the real thing. The suite includes nine pedals, including the Tube Wailer, Uber Tube, Diamond Drive, RXT, Delta Fuzz, Wah Pedal and others. Users can experiment with hundreds of tones and thousands of combinations. Custom '59 amp modeler Custom '59 meticulously models three all-time classic guitar amplifiers: the Fender Bassman, the Marshall JTM45 and the Marshall JCM800. Users can adjust tone settings, drive and tube combinations to produce rich, luscious guitar tones that faithfully reproduce the sound of each amp. But Custom '59 goes further: users can mix and match the preamp tube, preamp circuit and tone stack from each model to create their own custom amps. The possibilities for tone are virtually limitless, all born from the iconic pedigree of three legendary originals. Live Room | G Digital Performer 7's Live Room | G is a superb physical modeling speaker cabinet emulator plug-in with four mic channels (two mono and one stereo), mixable mic positions (close, near and far) and 3-band EQ per channel. What convolution did for reverb, Live Room | G does for speaker cabinet emulation, thanks to the next-generation physical modeling technology at its core. Engineered for the unprecedented power of today's personal computers, the modeling technology in Live Room | G captures every nuance and detail of the hundreds of factors that interact to recreate the rich, detailed sound of a speaker cabinet in a real room recorded by four separate mics. Five cabinet models are supplied, including a 4x12 Modern for ultra-distorted chunks and sludge, a 4x12 Vintage for those '80s hair-band tributes and '70s proto-metal, and a 2x12 Combo for Muscle-Shoals-style southern rock and country. Best DAW EVER! Hands down, I have Pro Tools 8 as well and DP 7 blows it out of the water. Do yourself a favor and save your money, don't buy a pro tools system. DP7 with any of MOTUs interfaces is p... read more [+]erfect for the home studio! close [-]
August 3, 2010 Music Background: Wow, Wow, Wow!!! The "BEST" release of DP EVER!!!!!
by Rodger Willis from Bolingbrook, IL
I've been a DP user since version DP3 and I really love DP but I did have a few problems with DP6 up until DP6.02 took care of 99% of my DP6 related issues. October 5, 2009 Music Background: Recording Engineer When Logic 9 was released ... read more [+]I gave VERY SERIOUS consideration to switching and I even purchased it so that I could have a personal experience with it. I've concluded that Logic isn't bad at all but it really shouldn't be compared to DP7. It does have a lot of bells and whistles and for many thats a good thing but where it really counts it still falls short. If you're into SERIOUS MIDI compositions, really advanced editing, or if you happen to need DAE, forget about Logic. If you're going to tell me all about the great plugins that ship with Logic I'll agree but who among us only uses the default plugins? Who doesn't use top shelf plugins from companies like Universal Audio, Waves, etc? Logics plugins are good but they're not going to replace these 3rd party plugins for anyone. Looking at it that way, Logic becomes less of a bargain. DP7 really has to be the best release ever by MOTU!!! I'm glad MOTU released this version when they did; we needed this version in the worst way and I can say that it doesn't disappoint! If you're looking for a DAW, you HAVE to consider DP7! close [-] Check out the free iPhone iPad controller app

Awesome software, but then again, I've been using it from version 1.0. The iPhone/iPad app is DA BOMB! No need to buy the Euphonix MC control for $1800 when you can buy an iPad

Mark MaxwellI've been using Digital Performer since it was Performer 1.5. In fact, I've composed, arranged, sequenced, mixed at least 20 complete CD projects in DP. Bottom line: DP has always been a joy to work with. It does everything I need it to do and way, way more. Everything from the GUI (which is easy and intuitive), to the included effects and virtual instruments (which are superlative), to the many and varied editing windows (which all make sense and are easy to use), and even the help menus and manual - all well designed and optimized to maximize creativity and work flow. Take it from me, a DP veteran: if you're looking for a great DAW, you'll love Digital Performer. Also popular
