Classic Martin dreadnought size for full sound Martin's dreadnought guitars are legendary for their rich, full tone and outstanding projection. The DX1K brings this tradition to a new level of affordability. The top of an acoustic guitar plays a critical part. The more it vibrates, the more resonance it adds to the tone. The DX1K top is based on Martin's famous X Series dreadnought design with a solid sitka spruce top and crossbracing for maximum projection. The DX1K's back and sides are constructed of Martin's specially formulated Hawaiian koa high-pressure laminate for the ideal combination of structural strength, sound quality, and economy. Easy-playing neck with ebony fingerboard The Martin DX1K features a mortise-and-tenon set neck that adds more vibrations with rich harmonics - for unique Martin punch and pleasure. The DX1K neck is made of Martin-exclusive Stratabond, a long-lasting, easy-playing material that offers the feel and the rigidity of a premium hard wood. The solid striped ebony fingerboard with side position inlays completes the DX1K's easy-playing style. In fact, Martin players often say that their Martins sound and feel as great on the seventh fret as they do on the first - and sound even better in the seventh year than they do the first! Ebony bridge and chrome tuning machines Every element of the DX1K was chosen for quality tone and exceptional performance. The DX1K bridge is crafted of striped ebony and supports a compensated white tusq saddle for better intonation. The DX1K also employs Martin chrome-plated tuning machines that make it easy to get in tune and stay in tune! You don't have to settle for a lesser guitar just because you have a limited budget. With the Martin DX1K you get Martin quality and fine, natural tone without paying a premium price! Martin DX1K Acoustic Dreadnought Guitar Features:
The Martin DX1K is an outstanding "first guitar!"

I never understood the reason behind a Martin guitar being so expensive. December 31, 2007 Music Background: Musician Then I finally had the chance to play one. The sound was exactly what I had in mind when I pictured my ideal ac... read more [+]oustic! A Martin under $600 interested me, of course. It arrived at my house, I tuned it, and played. This guitar can project like no other. It sounds huge!!! The treble isn't irritating or thin sounding, and the bass is enormous and warm without being too overpowering. When playing a fast riff or scale, every note is clear and easy to play. I get a lot of complements on the finish, the koa and spruce are really pretty even though the overall look is understated, or almost plain. It's terrific, get a humidifier, and be careful not to dent the spruce top. close [-] Martin DX1K

Just what you would expect from a Martin! May 7, 2007 Music Background: Church worship team Sounds awesome, looks beautiful. I took it out for the first time yesterday and several people were highly impressed. We typically use a Taylor 400 or 500 series at our church and everyone was excited to hear my Martin. I installed an LR Baggs Element (an EXCELLENT pickup). When I plugged it in and started playing they were blown away. They had to lower the bass on the sound board because it just boomed so much more than the Taylors. Plus the high ends sounds just as good. I'm very satisfied! close [-] inSync Review
