I give it a 4.5 because it is beyond just great as haven't seen another product like this of this quality. The price is extremely fair considering the cost of other bass drum spurs. I used these spe... read more [+]cifically, not as the only bass drum spurs. I bought these for a Austin Tx made Fibes jasper shell bebop kit. If you know Fibes then you know they have the patented spring loaded non adjustable bass drum spurs. While they are cool as they don;t require a big hole for the leg as it sits inside of a mounting bracket without penetrating the shell and they are fine on 20 inch and bigger kicks, the 18 inch bebop size kick (which I love) requires a riser for the kick pedal to strike normally without having to cut the beater rod. The riser brings the batter side higher than the front reso which besides being funny looking it isn;t that stable. SO these dw removable hoop spurs rescued me from actually thinking of never using that kit on a gig and I love that kit, or worse buying a full kick drum craddle or something much bulkier and strange looking for a kick that is a true kick and not a floor tom turned sideways. close [-]
