Return of the Nighthawk

Built for Sustain
Gibson designed the Nighthawk Studio for rich tones and lots of sustain. The light yet solid poplar body gives you great tone and sustain while the mahogany neck plays fast and effortlessly. The set-neck construction maximizes vibration transfer, and the strings-through-body design makes the Nighthawk Studio sing for even longer. If you want a powerful sound and sustain that won't quite, the Nighthawk Studio is your guitar.

Two Hot Humbucking Pickups
Look, when you're talking about a Les Paul, you're talking about that big, fat, smoky humbucker sound. You've got that smooth-playing neck in your left hand and you're grabbing big fat power chords and soloing all up and down the fingerboard. So Gibson put two huge-sounding humbucking pickups on this baby with hot Alnico magnets - a BurstBucker 2 in the neck position and a BurstBucker 1 in the bridge position. Both humbuckers can each be switched to single-coil mode, thanks to the push/pull coil tapping available on the tone knob.

Baked Maple Fingerboard
The Gibson Nighthawk Studio sports a baked maple fingerboard. Baking the wood in a special oven makes the wood water resistant, hard and stable (perfect for fingerboards), with snap and attack similar to ebony - but with a more traditional appearance. As no chemicals are used, the process also earth-friendly. Always an innovator, Gibson - in the face of tightening world supplies of certain woods - again shows its leadership in materials engineering in the quest for new and improved tonewoods for its guitars.
