From Our Research Team:A Legendary Guitar Gets Modern Touches!Created by legendary automotive designer (and visionary) Ray Dietrich, the original 1963 Firebirds literally reversed conventional concepts for guitar bodies and headstocks. You can bet heads turned when any guitar player took to the stage with one of these unusual instruments strapped on. Players like Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter and Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) found their combination of looks and sound to be perfect for their needs (though, of course, Clapton played many Gibsons through the years). The Firebird 2010 is a modern update of the original, boasting all the mojo with the addition of upgraded tuners (the Firebird 2010 is rockin' Steinberger Gearless tuning keys). Still eye-catching, the Firebird 2010 packs all the sonic punch of the original with extras that elevate this guitar to the upper echelon of the guitar world.Gibson Firebird 2010 Solidbody Electric Guitar Features at a Glance:

I had the opportunity to purchase this guitar recently, based on me playing one around 7 years ago. When I played one on a few different occasions then, I loved the tone of the pickups as well as the ... read more [+]balance and the weight. I have always liked Black guitars because they look great on stage. Unfortunately Gibson never offered this guitar in Black, unless you went through the Custom Shop (big money!) until 2010. As soon as a saw it in Black I new I had to get one. After contemplating buying one solely based off the price of it, (not one of your less expensive Gibson guitars) I decided to get one. When I first saw it I couldn't believe how great it looked, way better than the pics from the manufacture, a very, very sharp looking guitar. The guitar doesn't play like any other Gibson period! It's like an Explorer and an SG morphed together, with a neck profile closer to a Flying V. Overall just odd, but so darn cool! It may take some time to get used to, but it really is quiet an amazing and very unique instrument, for cosmetic reasons as well as overall sound and comfort. I love this guitar more and more everyday. close [-]
