Live Utopia - Plus Monitoring

No, we're not talking about Todd Rundgren's band. This is about great sounding, no-hassle live audio. The key is a digital snake with personal monitor mixing. Why? In a word: freedom. Freedom from the noise and bulk of analog snakes. Freedom from being peppered with "I need more of myself in my monitor" requests. The DS32Mix Digital Snake marries the performance and ease-of-use of an Aviom digital snake with the control and adaptability of an industry-standard personal mixing system. The DS32Mix gives you up to 32 mic/line inputs on stage and 16 returns from front of house - plus a basic Aviom personal mixing system. The DS32Mix ships with four Aviom A-16II Personal Mixers, although there's virtually no limit on how many mixers you can add.

On the front end, the DS32Mix employs two AN-16/i-M Mic Input Modules. Featuring 16 balanced inputs and thru jacks, the AN-16/i's input channels are fitted with controls for gain and phase reverse, as well as a three-segment level meter, 48-volt phantom power, and an 85Hz rumble filter roll-off. At FOH, two AN-16/i modules provide inputs from the console. One is used for main returns, while a second supplies inputs for the audio being routed to the Aviom Personal Mixers.

Analog outputs are handled by two AN-16/o v.4 Output Modules - one onstage and one at front of house. The AN-16/o's 16 balanced outputs are furnished on DB-25 multipin connectors. Analog outputs may be set (per channel pair) to +24dBu, +18dBu, +4dBu, or mic level.

The four included A-16II Personal Mixers give performers individual control over channel volume, grouping, pan, stereo spread, master volume and tone of their personal monitor mix. What's more, musicians can store and recall up to 16 custom mix presets in their Personal Mixer.

The A-16D Pro A-Net Distributor makes it easy to setup your monitoring system by supplying both digital audio and DC power to all Personal Mixers on the system. Each A-16D Pro allows up to eight Personal Mixers to be connected; additional Personal Mixers may be added by daisy-chaining (with locally supplied power) or by adding supplementary A-Net Distributors. Lastly, a pair of AN-16SBR System Bridges keeps things simple by routing all signals through a single Cat-5e cable between the stage and front of house.
