TASCAM'S DR-2d is cool in a bunch of ways. That means if your first gain setting accidentally distorts — maybe the guitarist kicked it up too loud in the bridge or the drum levels got too hot — well, you'll have a second version of your recording at a lower level so you don't have to trash the entire take. If you comp the two of them, you'll have a flawless version of the recording, which will definitely put a smile on your face when you capture that impossible-to-recreate moment. Cool, right? We thought so too.

If you're rehearsing your music, you'll appreciate the built-in speaker. You'll also appreciate two more features. You are able to loop the playback, so you can work on a particular part without the recorder always moving ahead. Beyond that, the TASCAM DR-2d lets you slow down audio without changing the pitch — perfect for rehearsing that killer solo until you can nail it at the right tempo.
