Four-track Recording Made Simple!

The DP-004 is an easy to use 4-track recorder with a layout much like TASCAM's groundbreaking cassette recorders. Yet, it has modern conveniences, such as USB 2.0, is smaller than a paperback book, and features built-in microphones, so you can take it anywhere. If you want to connect other instruments or microphones, the DP-004 has two 1/4" inputs - audio is saved to an SD card at excellent CD quality. Other features include a bounce function, flexible editing, a built-in tuner, and a metronome on the TASCAM DP-004.

The TASCAM DP-004 Portable Digital Pocketstudio is smaller than a paperback book, so you can take it with you anywhere. Plus, you don't have to worry about bringing a bunch of extra gear with you when you want to capture an idea - the DP-004 has a pair of built-in microphones for recording ideas on the fly.

Connect up your own microphones, instruments, or line-level gear
While the DP-004 makes a great partner for recording impromptu jam sessions with its built-in microphone, it's also equipped to handle your professional recording needs, such as creating a band demo. Two 1/4" inputs accept microphone or line-level signals. The first input can also switch so it's suitable for recording your bass or guitar signal directly.

Easy-to-use interface resembles a cassette 4-track
TASCAM's cassette Portastudios were extremely popular - mainly because they were so easy to use effectively. The DP-004 follows that lineage and offers a user-friendly layout, much like those cassette 4-tracks. You can easily assign an input to any of the four tracks just by pressing two buttons. One touch of the record button "arms" the tracks for recording and a second touch starts the recording. You can adjust all the audio levels by using the input knobs and viewing the meters on the DP-004's LCD screen.

Records at CD-quality to removable SD cards
TASCAM kept quality and convenience in mind when building the DP-004. Audio records as a CD-quality 16-bit/44.1kHz WAV file, so your performances sound great. What's more, all the audio records to SD Card media and a generous 1GB card is included with the recorder. SD Card media is great because it's removable, expandable, and affordable. You can pop in another card, just like you'd put in a new tape to start another recording. And for longer recording sessions, you can put in a higher-capacity card.

Connects to your computer via USB 2.0
Once you've recorded your tracks, it's easy to get them to your computer to load to your webpage, e-mail to friends, load into your portable media player, or just burn to disc. The TASCAM DP-004 connects to your computer via fast USB 2.0.

Just like with popular cassette recorders, once you've mixed your four tracks together you can bounce them over to a new track and make room for more overdub layers - the DP-004's only limited by the amount of layers you can dream up! It also features flexible editing tools, so you can clean up mistakes or silence noises in a track. If you happen to record over something by mistake, an Undo button is handy so you don't have to sweat it. Other professional features include a repeat mode for the recorder. There's even a built-in tuner and a metronome, making the DP-004 an incredibly convenient tool.
