The Legendary Phasor 201 Is Back!

Re-create that classic '80s all-analog phaser sound with the DOD Phasor 201 effect pedal. This reissue stompbox delivers that old-school phaser sound you've been looking for — plus a few updates. DOD gave the Phasor 201 a blue indicator light so you can tell whether the effect is on or off, a lightweight aluminum chassis, and a modern 9V power supply input. Like the original Phasor 201, this reissue sports a single-speed knob that controls the depth and speed to give you everything from a light-swirling vibe to a full-on cyclonic storm. Grab the DOD Phasor 201 and add a healthy dose of vintage phaser to your rig!

An assortment of well-earned updates

As much as we love the classics at Sweetwater, he can’t help but appreciate how DOD outfitted the Phasor 201 with a host of performance-minded updates. An LED indicator now alerts you when the pedal is on, and the new lightweight aluminum chassis was given a total cosmetic makeover for a sharp, refined look. Moreover, the power input has moved to the top edge for easier pedalboard integration.

A 1-knob wonder

Do you really need more than one knob? The Phasor 201 is about as intuitive as a pedal can get, sporting a single knob with a two-stage sweep to unlock a vast assortment of rich, analog phaser swoosh and sway. While its simple control scheme may appear limiting from the outset, the truth is that each and every position on the Phasor 201 offers unique tones to play with — it’s by no means a 1-trick pony, and even it sounds equally great on both clean and dirty signals.

DOD Phasor 201 Effect Pedal Features at a Glance:

  • Reissue of the DOD phaser, packed to the brim with rich, swirling analog phase
  • True-bypass circuitry will keep your tone pure when the effect is off
  • Incredibly intuitive 1-knob design
  • Lightweight aluminum chassis
  • Modern 9V DC power supply input moved to the top edge for easier pedalboard integration
  • Blue status light for a quick visual indication if the pedal is engaged

Better Script Phase than the original script phase

Look… I can write a bunch of pontificating jargon- but listen. This the best, I mean the best vintage phaser I have ever found (and I've had/have all the main ones)…

If adds a deep rich and thick phase without any unwanted gain or unnecessary drive. It actually phases your tone- nothing more, nothing less.

Just right

Brings me back to the original 80's version but improved with true bypass and power supply connectivity. One knob simplicity. I use it at it's lowest setting just to add a little warm, swirly mood when desired. Great job DOD.

I love this pedal for clean wet effects!

I like using a phaser more than a chorus pedal for clean wet effects. If you can only pick phaser or a chorus effect than I would get this, This pedal is super easy to use with one knob. Set and forget. Or dial in the correct speed. It all sounds awesome. It is made of medal and the blue paint looks fantastic. I love it and know you will too!

Just what I wanted

This is exactly what I was looking for. This effect is warm and rich and does not over shadow your tone. It's a great enhancement to any clean and most drive sounds. It just fits your sounds really well. The whole range of the knob sounds good and if you like some 70s strat rhythms this will make you smile really big. Great pedal. it does one thing and does it beautifully. Bonus that it sounds great with overdrive also.

A Phaser For Modulation Haters

If you're not a fan of phasers and find that they sound cheesy or fake, then this might change your mind about that.
This is a straight-forward, non-gimmicky, transparent phaser effect. It's not going to launch your sound to outer space, it's not going to swirl into oblivion, it's not going to turn your guitar into a retro sci-fi film soundtrack, or a synthesizer in general for that matter.
It is going to give your tone a smooth buttery phase motion that isn't too over the top and doesn't dominate your tone. It's a simple two-stage filter which makes it a great phaser for those who aren't a fan of modulation in general. I used to hate phasers until I tried this. It preserves your initial tone while adding a bit of it's mojo. The same thing a little reverb or a little delay does. Just an enhancement to your sound and not a transformation of your sound. the clean tones channel classic funk, 70's psychedelic, classic reggae, indie pop/rock tones, etc. Not so much the lesser-transparent 80's rock tones the majority of phasers tend to have.
It doesn't have a depth tone and never do I feel like it needs one. It's voiced meticulously throughout the whole span. I love the ambient, spacy vibe it adds at slow speeds the most, but I use it everywhere. Faster speeds above 3 o'clock get into a vibrato/rotary sounding territory.
The best part about it is I can leave it on for hours at a time. It's not a huge signal mangler so it's not one of those annoying, barely used, one-trick pony pedals sucking up real estate on your board.
Side note: I love how it looks next to my Strymon Deco since they have matching knobs. :)
