Customer Reviewsfrom prairie city, ia. November 7, 2012Music Background: Hobbyist DN-8142Sweet guitar. Set up perfect. Very nice sound. Pleasantly surprised.from Bloomington, IN March 8, 2012Music Background: Pro Musician, Songwriter This Guitar Speaks! A standout regardless of price.First, I'm an electric guitarist who was hunting for the acoustic that played like a strat and projected like a cannon. I wanted a cut-away body for high notes-kept coming back to Taylors. Hundreds played and this pumpkin colored Dread (Thanks Greg Baum!) was handed to me from the top row of Sweetwater's acoustic room. I was biased against it from the moment I saw it- no cut-away / too much inlay. Trouble was no other guitar in the room (nor Indy/Nashville,TN) had the sonic stuff to compete with the pumpkin. Fingerpicking is subdued-then put your nail into it and make any note stand out large.Strum as loud as you want and it achieves amazing volume before it breaks up. Single notes ring inside the body in perfect sympathetic pitch as long as any guitar I've played. Sting a note and it projects with authority. It truly responds to different input with great dynamic variety. Every chord sounds warm, alive and in tune -even when it isn't. I tune it maybe once a month-always minor. I've looked inside it with a camera and it shows only excellent craftsmanship with zero glue splash or gap in joints. It is clearly a tribute to a 42 and does so w/o shame. I played each 8142 in stock. They were identical in sound. I left without buying, waited 3 long weeks playing many $2K+ acoustics, then ordered mine. I feel lucky to own this outstanding guitar. I come up with something new every time I play it. The appearance is growing on me. from Marion, In USA July 28, 2011Music Background: Musician country and bluegrass One great guitarThe sound and playability is right up with my HD28 and D41. Quality is top notch. I have yet to see anything that comes close to it in this price range. I would highly recommend it. The only thing I would like to see on it is a strap button for the front as I like to use straplocks on all of my guitars.
