The first thing that jumped out at me was the loud handling noise. somewhere in the 100Hz range i believe. It can be mostly EQ'd out with the help of a gate, but still present. 2. I can hold it close to 2 feet from my mouth and still here me talk. if there is noise it will pick it up. It's pretty annoying, but can also be helped by a gate. Also seems to make it more susceptible to feedback than a SM58. 3. Latency seemed to be slightly worse that then some other wireless systems i used. It's hard to say by how much. On the flip side the audio quality is very good. Comparable to an SM58 with the exception of being a little harsh in the mid range frequencies. from Cleveland Ohio March 8, 2013Music Background: Live Sound engineer, Software developer 25+ yrs. If you like the D5First impressions:Just got the DMS-70. I have an AKG D5 as well. Compared them side by side into the same board (X32) The DMS-70 sounds perfect and exactly like the D5, which happens to be one of my favorite new mics. Flat midrange response, great volume before feedback. This unit couldn’t be easier to use and pair. 5 Stars for sound quality. Here are the "gotchas" with this unit so far. I will use it at a gig tomorrow night in a real world situation to see if there are more. 1) Latency – Changes with the selectable encryption. Low: 5 ms, Medium: 7.5 ms High: 10 ms. I verified this by panning my D5 left and the DMS-70 right, speaking into both mics adjusting the channel delay until they seemed to sound aligned. If you use in ears and cannot handle a 5 ms delay then use something more expensive. If you use this with corded mics or analog wireless mics you may want to adjust the relative delays (if you have a digital board with input delays). I am not worried about this, I often run output delays to reduce feedback. 2) Farting noise - Not really farting, but occasional low frequency audible pulses, often in a series of chirps. I've seen other complaints about this online, and with my DMS-70 it happened right away. I thought it might be my nearby Wifi Router so I turned it off. No Change. Then I turned off my cell phones and the pulses were gone. I turned my cell phones back on and the pulses did not return. Could have been a coincidence, but I’m keeping cell phones away from the handset and receiver. (I use Sprint and AT&T 1900 Mhz phones in the USA) YMMV
