All tonewoods were hand-selected by Martin's Custom Shop expert luthier Danny Brown. You get a solid East Indian rosewood back, with an absolutely beautiful quilted mahogany wedge. Solid East Indian rosewood sides enhance both looks and tone further, adorned with a premium Carpathian spruce top. The top is braced with golden-era-style spruce bracing for exceptional tonality and projection. The select hardwood neck sports a bound ebony neck, which plays as good as it looks. Great tone from premium wood
With a premium Carpathian spruce top, premium East Indian rosewood back and sides, and a select hardwood neck with ebony fretboard, the Martin Custom D-35 is a tone-lover's dream come true. Solid wood guitars flex over the years and their tone "settles in" after lots of playing, especially if hide glue is used like the on Custom D-35.
