From Our Research Team:

An American Classic!

Since 1931, the Martin D-28 has remained the standard by which all other steel-strings are judged. Solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, solid spruce top, and Dreadnought size produce an incredibly loud, full, rich, punchy tone perfect for most musical styles. Used for years by all the top players, the D-28 is rightfully a living legend in acoustic guitars.

Typically the action is set higher on a D-28 than on a D18, 35, 42 or 45 owing to the instrument's bluegrass roots where the instrument performs with mandolins, banjos and Dobros which are loud. A heavier gauge string and tad higher action makes the guitar louder. Well-played D28's are often referred to as "cannons". The D28 is an American classic.

THE choice? THE Choice!

by Joe from Niagara Falls

It's not a beginners guitar, this is true. The Martin doesn't, on first playing, deliver the shimmering highs taht come so easily from a taylor (or even the more balanced highs of a Gibson acoustic).... read more [+] But with practice, and experience playing this particular guitar, it is capable of much more diversity.
The tone is perfectly balanced, with a strong, but not overpowering low end. Playability is nice, with a high enough action to allow for "resistance" while bending, and easy enough action for ease of play.

The finish is simple, but elegant and beautiful. A Word of note, about the guitar, however, is that it will not sound full with ligher guage srtings than twelves, and cannot be strung any heavier than 12's, lest the neck and bridge warp. close [-]

Our Customers Say...

I can talk to my Sales Engineer about any piece of equipment, and he always steers me in the right direction. He truly knows what he's talking about, and he never tries to over-sell me on anything. If he worked in the Nashville area, I'd probably owe him about 20 dinners by now!
