Snobby boutique amp owners listen up. This amp is simply amazing. For the price you will not find a better sounding, better built, more versatile amp than this one. The clean channel on this amp is ... read more [+]warm, round and punchy and the reverb is rich and lush. The overdrive channel can get you that classic Marshall sound and with a high output humbucker and the gain turned up you can get some pretty thick, beefy distortion. This amp is so responsive as well. It is built like a tank and is built in the USA. Look all around and you will not find one negative thing said about this amp. The only thing to remember is this amp weighs a lot (62 pounds) so if you get it you might want to consider putting wheels on it or getting a foldable cart to lug it around. close [-]
November 14, 2011 Music Background: The amp I use to judge all others
by Charlie from Ft Lauderdale, FL.
I have been playing for almost 51 years. My second amp, bought new in 1965, was a Fender Deluxe-Reverb(original, not the re-issue). I soon replaced the 12" Jensen Special design with a D-120 JBL. That... read more [+] was my amp—I it used to judge all others. I'd owned several amps including many Peavey's but held on to that little amp, and re-tubed it so many times. In the early 80's I started using Peavey guitars and amps—even visited the factory many times. In 1991, I was earnestly waiting for the first Classic 50/410 to hit South Florida. I bought it on the spot. I took it home and, believe it or not, sold the DR. I haven't regretted that decision at all. I have seven Peavey amps and almost twenty Peavey guitars—as 'I only play Peavey or I don't play' is absolutely true. My now 18-year old Classic 50 is still my first choice. It has not once been in a repair shop, nor has it ever failed me. It is the amp I now judge all others with." close [-]

I have been a customer of Peavey Amps since the '70s. I play rock/Pop and fusion music. I started off with a 4x12 "Musician" in 72. I now own a late 90's 4x10 Classic 50, and it's the best and most ve... read more [+]rsatile amp (without spending thousands) I have ever owned!! Period!! Out of all the Twins, Deluxe's, Marshalls.....I could go on. Just buy this amp!! I played it in the store with the same great tones at the same volumes! Killer Diller tone!! The 4x10's give it a tight, fat tone that delights the ear with sweet tube saturation. Rock on Peavey!! close [-]

March 10, 2009 Music Background: musician/part time Fat or Thin dial it in
by Bob Pilcher from Charleston, SC
I have been playing guitar since the early 60's and have had more amps than I can remember. My first a Gretsch, then Fender, Vox, Marshall, Johnson and so on.

This amp will give you just about any tone and rivals any 65 Deluxe or Twin I have ever played. Takes a little tweaking but you can crank it up and chill an obnoxious drummer in a heartbeat, the capability is there. I now have 2 1992 Classic 50/410's and as with previous reviewers, have never had either one in the shop, not once. Any performing artist will tell you that's money in the bank. close [-] Also popular
