The Apple LED Cinema Display is more than a gorgeous 27" display - it's a convenient dock for your MacBook or MacBook Pro - your other essential desktop devices, such as your iPod, iPhone, USB printer, and camera. The LED Cinema Display's handy 3-in-1 cable connects to your MacBook's DisplayPort, USB 2.0 port, and MagSafe power connector - just plug it in and you've instantly got more screen real estate. Other Apple "extras" include a built-in iSight camera, a microphone, and speakers, so the Apple LED Cinema Display perfectly complements your MacBook!
Your MacBook or MacBook Pro is perfectly sized to take your digital life to go - but when you're at home or at your office desk, sometimes you want a little more screen space and an easy way to "dock" and charge your laptop before your next adventure. That's just what the Apple LED Cinema Display gives you. Thanks to its convenient 3-in-1 cable, you can simultaneously charge your laptop, enjoy 27" of extra screen space - extended or mirrored - and gain even more USB ports. So, leave your power cord in your bag, grab your laptop, and take advantage of a seamless mobile-to-desktop workflow.
When you're working at your desk - whether that's in the den, in your office, or in your studio - inevitably you need a home for your other essential devices. Rather than jam your MacBook or MacBook Pro with a ton of USB cables, or crowd your desktop with a USB hub, you get three more self-powered USB 2.0 ports with the Apple LED Cinema Display. You can dock your iPod or iPhone, keep your printer connected, pull new pictures from your camera, or keep your main audio interface plugged in and ready to go.
You won't lose any of your favorite MacBook or MacBook Pro extras when you step up to the larger, gorgeous display. Apple gave the LED Cinema Display a built-in iSight camera, a microphone, and speakers - perfect for video chatting, or just listening to music. You can leave your MacBook open or closed - your focus is now on the big screen.
In addition to being Apple's most convenient display ever, it's also their most environmentally friendly. It meets the ENERGY STAR's low-power requirements, features arsenic-free glass, and even employs BFR- and PVC-free internal cables and components. What's more, its glass and aluminum construction make it highly recyclable.

Actually a good value.
by Nathanael Davenport from Salt Lake City, UTThough this display is officially discontinued, it still is a great value for it's resolution. Look up prices of other 2560x1440 displays and you'll see they are right around this price point, and exc... read more [+]eed it in a few cases. I've seen the displays made by Dell, NEC, Samsung, and in subjective quality, the Apple Display beats them. Of course, none of this matters much to an audio engineering professional, but to video and photo guys, the blacks are richer, the shadows show more details, and the colors are as close to spot-on as I have ever seen in a stock monitor that hasn't been calibrated. For DAW work, I don't like dual displays, one big display seems to work much better for my workflow, where in Logic Pro I have ample room to use the unified arrange window with mixer, MIDI parameters, and Library tools all showing. It's just FUN to sit down in front of this thing and get to work. BUY IT! close [-]
