23" CINEMA DISPLAY DESCRIPTION

Big Ideas Need A Big Canvas
Q: How do you fit the easy visual reference of large format mixing console into a 15" space? A: You don't. That's the problem we all face with DAWs; there's just too much we need to see and not enough screen real estate to put it in - but take heart, now there is a solution. The widescreen design of the Apple 23-inch Cinema Display offers a natural format for arranging documents the way your brain processes them - longer wide than high. And the 23-inch Cinema HD Display provides the exact resolution to display widescreen high -definition material. Apple engineers find that 100 pixel-per-inch resolution is ideal for images, yet allows you to easily work with sophisticated type treatments or just plain email. This painstaking attention to detail moves the industry forward and gives you best LCD technology available. That's why each display gives you the best view for your work in wide format.

See the Forest and the Trees
The 23-inch Cinema Display's elegant aluminum enclosure, advanced hinge technology and peripheral support give you flexibility to place your display anywhere and adjust it effortlessly. The optional VESA mount lets you put a flat panel in surprising new places. You can make your Apple display a seamless part of your studio, mount it on a wall or swivel mount on your console via an articulating arm, that will allow you to bring it close for easy view of plug-in paramters, or move it out of the way for an unobstructed path from your monitor speakers. Of course, not only does it look good, but IT LOOKS GOOD; with an optimal resolution of 1920 by 1050 pixels, 16.7 million colors and a pixel density of about 100 pixels per inch, optimized for images.

Flat Out Winner
With an Apple Cinema HD Display, you get all the benefits LCD technology has compared to a cathode ray tube (CRT). You'll get about twice the brightness, sharpness and contrast of a CRT display with flicker-free performance and still get the full gamut of colors. Resistant to environmental factors that affect the visual performance of CRTs, such as heat, humidity and electromagnetic fields, an LCD display is a better choice for music applications, since the aforementioned electromagnetic fields from CRT displays cause noise problems if you're recording an electric guitar near them.

PC/VESA Compatibility
The DVI connectors on PowerBooks and other graphics cards sold by Apple support a "single link" DVI signal, suitable for driving the 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display or 20-inch Apple Cinema Display. And this DVI connection removes all barriers to using an Apple display with a PC. So long as your graphics card supports DVI with DDC technology for widescreen viewing, you should be able to use these Apple displays with a PC.

The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) promotes and develops timely, relevant, open display and display interface standards, ensuring interoperability, and encouraging innovation. By choosing the VESA standard mount, Apple lets you choose any mounting solution that is VESA compliant. Choosing the VESA standard for DVI lets you select graphics cards that are VESA compliant to connect an Apple display to a PC.

Desktop Peripherals
Each display includes a FireWire 400 hub and a USB 2.0 hub, each with two ports. So you can connect a printer or scanner, or a camcorder or digital camera. The FireWire port lets you easily use an iSight camera for video chat, presented beautifully on your Apple display, or connect your iPod dock. You can also make best use of all the latest USB 2.0 devices, whether you're using your display with a Mac or PC.

Enjoy One or Two Artful Displays
Each display matches the sculpted aluminum enclosures of the Power Mac G5 and PowerBook. This strong, anodized aluminum also allows for an exceptionally narrow bezel, so you can use multiple displays together seamlessly. The Cinema Display hovers above your desk on a curvaceous stand, and hardly requires any pressure to adjust the viewing angle from -5° to 25°, since the enclosure is the lightest Apple display ever, at each size. And some ineffable quality of pure elemental aluminum just feels better to the touch.

Connect With Pure Digital DVI
Give your PowerBook G4 a second display when you're not on the road. Now you can connect the 23-inch Apple Cinema Display or 20-inch Apple Cinema Display directly to any PowerBook G4 with a DVI port giving you the ultimate creative canvas.
