CHAMPION 600 DESCRIPTION

Great little tube amp for recording!
Fender's Champion 600 is small on size but big on tone with a 5-watt two-tone amp and a 6" speaker. It's great for practice or recording. The controls couldn't be simpler - a single volume knob and an on/off switch. FENDER® added a higher-gain preamp circuit to boost the overdrive and high- or low-gain inputs for sonic options. This is a great no-fuss way to get classic Fender tube tone integrated into your setup. For tone-obsessed guitarists on a budget, the Champion 600 is a must have!

Fender Champion 600 Features:
  • Tube
  • Output: 5 watts
  • Speakers: One 6", 4-ohm Special Design driver with ceramic magnet
  • Channels: One (with High- and Low-gain Inputs)

“This is one of Fender's new offers amp-wise. The amp has 12ax7 and a 6v6 power tube, 5 watts total output and a 6" "special design" speaker. This amp is limited to a edgy kind of distorion when pushed by single coils or humbuckers. It isn't meant to be a clean amp, it is ideal for recording when you want a little "hair" around your guitar sound. The speaker tends to "fart out" when you pushed it...” Read More

Sweetwater Expert Advice

"In the early 1950s, the Fender Champion 600 was sold as a simple bedroom practice amp, yet its status has since risen to almost mythical proportions. The original Champion 600 (and subsequent "Champs") can be heard on many classic recordings. This Champion 600 reissue features the same "TV front" style cabinet as the original, as well as two-tone blonde & brown vinyl covering. Most importantly, however, it sounds almost exactly like the original (with a modern twist)! Having played through an original 1949 Champion, I can testify to this. Owning a Fender Champion 600 is like owning a piece of history. And at less than $200.00, it's a steal!"

"I had to try this little tube morsel. I pulled down a Tele, cranked the one knob that is available to 10, and tried out for the Rolling Stones (ok- in my mind). Either way, it sounded exactly like what we know as the killer sound of a 1950s Champ. Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Woman, and many more. This amp rocks. I've owned several '60s, '70s, and even the '80s Champs, and this is the real thing. The sound filled the room..."
