Remarkable instrument, outstanding service
by Mack Kenamond from Los Alamos, NMAs far as customer service, support, and quality of the product, I'd give this 5 stars all the way. I probably should give 5 stars overall instead of 4.5. You miss it when it's not not on a guitar, and you deal with it when it's there - compensate on bends. I just have to adjust and re-learn what I knew 18 years ago when I last played a guitar with a tremolo.

The guitar is perfect. It seems perfectly adjusted. The top is beautiful, almost too perfect to play, but of course that didn't stop me. There were several 10-tops available, and I know that I (eventually) made the right choice. I'm considering guitar display cases just because it's too pretty to hide in its case. That case, by the way, is fairly heavy but certainly provides tank-like armor and therefore peace of mind when carting it around to practice.
I'm still exploring the spectrum of tone and sounds possible with this guitar and a tube amp. The 5-way pick-up switch and tone knob provide unexpectedly vast flexibility. It blew my mind the first night of wailing in front of my tube amp, and I'm still exploring. It honestly inspired me in my playing. It combines the playability of my Parker Fly with the tone, sustain, and overall sound of my Gibson Les Paul Custom. And then there's just something sweet about the sounds I can produce with it and not my other guitars. I'm afraid I won't be playing either of those very much for a while.
I ordered a slew of maintenance stuff from the PRS site and sat down to clean the guitar and look for scratches on the top...and found none. I don't play with a pick, but my fingernails eventually put slight scratches on my other guitars. So far, I found none. It may still be too early to conclude anything, but it seems that the PRS finish is pretty tough.
Chris Ishak at Sweetwater was more than helpful in this and all other things we discussed on the phone and via email ranging from this guitar to monitor mixing, studio monitors, digital recording, in-ear monitoring, and powered speaker optimizers. I can't thank Chris and Sweetwater enough with all of the knowledge, information, and advice he has shared.
I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone who doesn't already own a PRS solid body. close [-]
