Premium tone woods
You are probably already familiar with the Martin D-18 guitar, which by all counts is an amazing guitar, well, Martin decided to take it up a notch with the Custom Shop CS-D18-12. To begin with they upgraded the Sitka spruce top to Adirondack spruce and the mahogany to Belize sinker mahogany. Adirondack spruce is known for having an aged sound that requires less time to "break in". These two woods combine to create a rich, full, detailed sound. The internal scalloped bracing was even upgraded to Adirondack spruce.

In the midst of the Great Depression, Martin managed to create two guitars that have remained incredibly popular to this day - in fact, the D-28 and the D-18 share what has become an iconic design. By introducing the dreadnought body shape into their lineup, Martin brought powerful bass and projection to guitarists - a real plus in an era before electric guitars entered the scene.
