I bought this amp to power some Peavey QW 4 speakers that I am using for a high dynamic range reference home theatre. I also do live sound expalining my equipment choices. I have used several amps, Cr... read more [+]own, Crest(Peavey's higher end), QSC, Carvin, Hafler, Yorkville and even high end home amps like Krell and ATI. Compared to them all this amp sounds perfect, imaging is superb, low noise floor and best of all, it dissapears. Has no sonic signature of its own, simply sounds like the what recording engineer intended . Plenty of power, QUICK and dynamic bass with great effeciency (Class , (Easily runs on a 15 amp circuit). Construction is top notch as well, I took a look under the hood to say and lots of storage capacitance (80 000 mfd), heatsinks on the bridge rectifiers and a really nice layout for cooling not to mention a HUGE hugh quality toroid transformer. Connections are via Neutrik XLRs and Speakons and very high quality, high current binding posts. A plus for high powered studio applications is that the fans run only on demand and even then are quiet. I must say, its the best sounding class H amp I have heard to date (Sounds just as good as the Crest Pro 9200, half the price but twice the weight). I couldnt be happier! February 8, 2012 Music Background: Systems Engineer Downsides? None unless you want a lightweight amp, for me I dont mind at all since this one is stationary. However for the power, 2040 watts RMS @ 4 ohms, 47 lbs isnt bad. Its worth noting while testing this amp out, I recorded a higher max SPL from the QWs than with any other amp, including a Crown Macro Tech 5002VZ. close [-] Love This Amp
